Congressman Peter King, R-NY, fired back at Sen. Hillary Clinton today, saying that her repeated attacks on President Bush as New York City slipped into darkness during last night's blackout could have provoked civil unrest.
Rep. King called Sen. Clinton's attempts to blame Bush for the blackout during several appearances on radio and TV "absolutely disgraceful."
He then noted, "There could have been some incident last night, and then you attach that to what she's saying and you get out of control and, before you know it, you have cops fighting for their lives in this city."
Within two hours of the power outage, Sen. Clinton was publicly criticizing Bush for the power failure, telling reporters, "I don't think the federal administration under this president is really focused on making sure we don't have these problems in the future."
King noted that her comments during the early evening hours came at a very precipitous moment for the city.
"We didn't know what was going to happen," he told Hannity. "And all you need is someone who's supposedly a national leader, trying to sow the seeds of division - and you have the police out there trying to keep order in the streets - and you have an elected official basically trying to divide the country, I mean, it's irresponsible to do that.
The Long Island Republican accused the former first lady of "undermining the efforts of what people like [Police Commissioner] Ray Kelly and [Mayor] Mike Bloomberg were trying to do, and Gov. Pataki - and that was to keep everyone speaking as one."
"Even if she had been right," King continued, "that is not the time to send a divisive message. . . . It was terrible."

Last week, she said that she signed 20,000 books. In an article posted today, she claimed that she signed 35,000.

You are getting too wound up over what you think King said there. He did not say she was right at all.
For instance, it would have been just as inappropriate at that time for a Republican to start pointing fingers.
There is a time and a place for everything, and last night as the sun was setting and the cause hadn't even been pinpointed was NOT it.

Does she KNOW where her downtown office is or did she just SAY she knows where it is....

Anyone see O'Reilly tonight? I heard he's been ripping the President last night and on the radio today. I'm really starting to get over him.
To: Paul Atreides
We all were so upset last night that she was allowed to spew *unchallenged*.
I am most grateful to hear a voice call her DISGRACEFUL because that is exactly what she was.

O'Reilly really has a problem with W. I don't know if it is because W was born into a wealthy family or what. O'Reilly tries to portray himself as Everyman. He is beginning to morph into Donohue.

She might as well had been out handing out campaign literature. I bet she's mad that she missed that opportunity, what with people stranded.

The Bush administration has been trying to get a new energy program, the left won't allow it, so as always, she is lying. I do hope this finally backfires on the PIAPS as it should! Of course, she always gets a pass.

The real kicker is that she is off to MV for a vacation....from signing books! No mention of where she is during all of this. It makes me sick. I know there is a bias in the media, but sometimes I just want to shout at the telly.

All I know is that she has some stink in her pantsuit. Have you ever looked at her with her black pantsuit and stringy, dirty hair and had the thought, "I wonder how often this woman bathes?"
I dunno. Maybe it's just me, but that's my first thought just about every time I see her.

King serves on the Finanacial Services Committee and the Armed Services Committee. I wonder if he has learned something.

"He is such a sleazy bugger; as typical a Clinton-lover as they come".
He is avoiding any show that will ask a difficult question. Gutless.
Hillary made the blackout about republicans and Enron and deregulation.
To: Nita Nupress
I seriously think that she is a nasty person. I bet she wears those pantsuits to hide her hairy legs.
I remember the media ripping apart Katherine Harris, on her looks. The same with Bubba's victims/conquests.
However, nothing is ever said about Mrs. Evil.

And, Hillary takes off for Martha's Vineyard to waddle her fat butt on the beach. This is good for the Cape's whale watch business.

"Do we KNOW she was in her downtown office or did she just SAY she was in her downtown office" You're right! We don't know for sure....and get this: I imagine with a straight face, Hillary said she was counseling interns at the time the electricity went off. I'm not making that up.

http://edition.cnn.com/2003/US/Northeast/08/14/nyc.powerout/ "Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-New York, was meeting with her 50 interns when the lights went out. "Very calmly, we went out to the sidewalk in front of our office and continued our discussion."
But, she told CNN on a cellular phone as she was driven slowly toward her home in Chappaqua in Westchester County, the possibility that it was a terrorist attack crossed her mind. "It had to cross anybody's," she said. "Especially those of us in New York."
