You bet I will. However, this girl was 26 years old. Do you really think that it was the main thing on her mind to do. The whole thing is tragic.

I was away from the thread all day and sorry I missed this. It looks like the newbie who believes his perspective is Christian, is away, but I hope he comes back. I hope he is not a troll, give him the benefit of the doubt for now.

Here is a guy's perspective:

I was really steamed at first reading here, but now am settled down.

Perhaps he doesn't have the capacity to understand or the experience and we have seen plenty of otherwise well meaning people over the years who just don't get it and never may.

One can kibbitz and pontificate from afar, but once facing such a person and interacting with the person, one must decide to recognize the soul looking back or to reject it.

Here on FR, one can just wander off to another thread.

I watched that video of Terri. Our son died at the same age and was in worse condition than Terri all his life. We recognize the look we lived with for 26 years and over the years we witnessed the effect his pure soul had on otherwise hardened hearts like that of the newbie.

A few short years ago, that look transformed a medical doctor who left his practice and dedicated his life to working in Catholic institutions and camps with people like our son. He sincerely believes our son is a saint and prays accordingly. Our son changed the doctor's direction in life, did that with less ability than we witnessed on the tape of Terri.

Like Terri, by his condition, he brought out the best human emotion in some and flushed out the otherwise hidden dark side in others.

We are grateful to God that He allowed us 26 years to care for this precious life and soul.

Over the years, we fought governments and well meaning functionaries who would have gladly terminated our son's life if they could. In fact in the few times he was in hospital care facility, we were amazed at how many would have pulled the plug and even tried to. But they were more amazed at how outraged a father can become real quick.

We never asked for nor expected extraordinary measures to keep his little body alive, but fought like banshees to protect what he had. And we are so thankful we did. It would have been so easy at times to just turn our backs as we had seen with our son's contemporaries time and again. We have watched these little helpless people wilt and die like picked flowers once the love and charity of their family cut off. Too bad for all the families lost at cutting this cord. At least the kids weren't starved to death.

Not only is the painful starving to death of a precious soul of God murder, but it is of a despicable kind, the taking of life so dependent upon us for charity.
