This is addressed to a couple of you who must not have read my post #130. Sounds like if you had read it and and still say what you do, you would have advised me and my wife to have abandoned our little vegetable decades ago, perhaps a post partum abortion.

So I commend to you my post to read and invite you to tell me why we did the wrong thing.

flaglady47, glad to see you are a conservative political activist in Illinois. You may remember that pivotal day in Illinois, Bloomington/Normal, Oct18,1980, when I was there with the boss. It is a day I will never forget.

...live and let live

a puzzling paradox in your usage of the phrase

This whole thing is disgusting...

Disgusting is supporting to end a human life by starvation.

wait, you say I am not God...isn't keeping someone alive by man-made means playing God?

You criticized Oceanperch because she behaves like a family member of Terri Schiavo's. She belongs to a religions that teaches us that we are all brothers and sisters, and that human life is sacred at all of its stages.

This is a lengthy thread and there have been previous ones. I really can't add much, except to say this: please try to consider the expressed religious beliefs of others before you respond to them.

One million dollars is a very powerful motive for lying, and for the commission of murder. Although the testimony of Terri's husband and two other family members claims that Terri would have refused medical treatment in a situation like this one, their million-dollar motive for lying must also be taken into consideration.

Excellent Post #162, Marvin, and thanks for the flag.

We live in a nation that is governed by laws. In most cases we are grateful for that, because at the very least it will always give us an opportunity to be heard. But sometimes it isn't a perfect system, because no system designed and operated by mortal man will ever be perfect.

Some battles are going to be lost, but we will win the war.

Would you want to live like that for 13 years? I want an honest answer.

I answered you on post 126.

Its a fact that her parents and her supporters are being bankrolled by the same sort of 1 issue religious fanatics

It's more a fact that her adulterous husband has his eyes on the insurance money he gets when she dies.

He does not want this woman - they do. Any judge should turn her over to the parents.

It's totally absurd that a husband who is cheating on his wife is considered some kind of "owner" of that wife. Let the family who loves her make decisions for her. They brought her into the world, he certainly didn't, he wants her gone so he can be rich.

I want an honest answer from you...would you want to live like Teri's living?

You might not like to live like I'm living --- that's the point. Once someone really loses their will to live, you can't keep them alive.

A husband should not have the power of attorney over a wife unless she has provided that power of attorney in writing and witnessed.

So what happens if your wife is in an accident, or has a stroke, etc? That's not a very realistic comment.

I'm just miffed about the deceptive attempts to fool people into believing she's not in a vegetative state with deceptive video.

There isn't really such a thing as a vegetative state. I used to hear of that but when I saw patients in a coma or who were referred to as being in a vegetative state, I saw something much different. They are often awake, they are aware ---they're existing in a different kind of state -- a different level of consciousness. Sometimes when we sleep we're at that same level.

Giving life support to a crib-bound infant is 'artificial' also. Want to make that a woman's right to choose to do it or not? The nihilism you serve is like a sieve leaking our nation's humanity ... what's clumping up, collecting in the sieve are the irrational defenses of killing innocent human beings, and Terri Schiavo fits the protocol to define her still as an integrated functioning whole human being, albeit she is severely handicapped. Incidentally, when an insurance company allocated $700,000 for REHABILITATION, they expect that the money would achieve some of what they allocated for. Michael Schiavo hasn't spent that allocation on the purpose for it and now wants to starve Terri to death to end the charade so he can keep what remains of the funds. You apparently think that's his 'right to choose' just the way you defended in the past 'a woman's right to choose a serial killer to off her unborn child'. You're being consistent, I'll give you that!

I truly think you are in the minority.

I truly agree with you on that one. The liberal media, especially the St. Petersburg Times takes the same point of view that you have. Many people are blindly led by the liberal media. I pride myself on the ability to see through the lies being spun by Michael Shiavo, his disgusting lawyer and by the news media. The honorable thing for him to have done a very long time ago would have been to divorce Terri. He is not staying married to her because he loves her, this is clear because he is in "love" with another women. He is staying married to Terri for one reason only and that is to get the money once she is dead. For many years the St. Pete Times never even mentioned that he was living with another women. He has had the St. Pete Times on his side from day one. They have not presented all the facts to the masses.

I just love how all you people "know" what's in the heart of others. I'm going to say this one more time, for the last time: There are some things worse than death. It's time for Teri's parents to let go.

I know a liar when I see one. I know greed when I see it. Does not take much to figure that out. What I do not get is people like you who think they know what is best for Terri and what her parents should and should not do. Again, who made you in charge? We are not living in communist China so where do people like you come off dictating who should live and who should die, who should have a child killed and who shouldn't.

I'm obviously not in charge of anything..who made you in charge? What an immature statement. We're having a discussion. But in this country the law is set up just in that way. Somebody WILL decide this.

The difference between you and I is that I am not dictiating who should be killed. You, Michael Shiavo and others on the other hand are.

Thanks for your very thoughtful post, Marvin.

A Christian conservative should never have to stop and weigh the situational ethic when it comes to approving life support for an individual human being, in a womb or in a hospital or hospice facility. That some do now have this dilemma when confronted with life issues is why abortion on demand has become more favored with un-planned pregnancies than adoption of the conceived individual human beings.

Agreed.
