[history]
In New York -- which has reported about 70,000 violent crimes a year since 1998 -- police reported four burglaries in the entire city overnight, and said they had made arrests in all four.
Three deaths overall have been reported that were tied to the outage.

Yeh. One has to go all the way to Toronto to find much looting.
At least 1 looter was arrested in Brooklyn last nite, per FoxNews. lol.

However, in Canada, officials reported a number of thefts and looting.
"There is serious looting going on" in parts of Ottawa, said Ottawa police chief Vince Bevan, adding there have been reports of break-ins, smashed windows and theft in the nation's capital.
Lol thats great the country with the second amendment has lees violent crime in a balckout...

Dang it. No new TV set.

Gee aren't the euros supposed to be good at geography?
It's only Canada that's in chaos.
To: Guillermo
screaming how "chaos" has descended upon the eastern US. Well they are right. Lots of people now have a three day weekend and the NYC beaches are closed and many have no way to get down to the Jersey shore beaches! ;-)

Now CNN will have to destroy all those articles that they were set to release on how the MASSIVE CRIME SPREE was somehow the fault of George Bush.
I am sure they had stories ready to go on how the blackout hurt children and minorities more than whites, how the Patriot act caused Ashcroft to target Muslims by trapping them in the subways, how Bush's neglect of the national power infrastructure will ultimatly kill the Spotted Owl and hurt Salmon breeding, and how Donald Rumsfeld issued an order that resulted in the homes of White soldiers got their power turned on before those of Black soldiers.
Poor CNN.

The only chaos that is probably happening (Canada notwithstanding) is among NYC FReepers!
They're probably going through some serious withdrawl.

My withdrawl ended shortly after 8:30 PM last night.
Blackout lasted only 4 hours in parts of NYC.
To: Guillermo
I'm right across the river and I was pretty upset that I couldn't follow the situation here last night(at least my power came back by about 8:30pm). So, what did I do, went fishing. ;-)

I've put up several posts since my lights went on last night and I've stated one thing; all CNN tried to do last night, especially wolf blitzer, was create hysteria in their yellow journalism reporting. All night blitzer kept asking people, "how does this compare to 9-11?"
To: Guillermo
The New York Times will probably report this as:
Energy Policy Causes Millions To Miss Opportunities
Bush Blamed For Power Failure; Women, Minorities Hardest Hit

Meanwhile, for the looters in the House and Senate, it was business as usual.

Sorry, man. It was just too hot to pillage yesterday. Maybe next time, 'kay?
