Is that supposed to be 8:30 EDT or EST? (Momentarily or in an hour?)

Apparently he's taping the statement now and it will go up on TV as soon as possible. He urges modernization of country's power grids. Says it's not terrorism. Says feds will help as much as they can.

WRONG! We're currently on Eastern DAYLIGHT Time (EDT), not Eastern Standard Time (EST).

Maybe he can order that the power grids be reorganized so that they don't have so many points of failure.

Your response is typical of a phd - Pretty Humping Dumb.

Are you really a FR person or some kind of dumb ass liberal. It is not the duty or the responsibility of the President to take care of power outages. That is something for the states and the power companies to deal with.

Wake up to the real world..........

The power grid is critical infrastructure. Most people outside the anarchist movement would disagree with you.

Nor did I say it was. But what we have here is a power grid with many points at which a single failure will bring the entire system down. Don't you think that that's a National Security issue? You talk as if there were nobody out there looking to exploit our vulnerabilities...and this is an awfully big one.

Uh...perhaps the DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY should deal with it and leave the Prez to deal with other things....

Yeah, it is but the power companies are privately owned, are they not? Let them deal with it or the states. Let's not make another case for the feds to step in again and regulate more business. According to the Constituion, I believe he federal gov't's job is to print money, develop relationships with other countries, secure the borders and raise an army and not much else.
