PARIS, France -- About 3,000 people have died in France of heat-related causes in the past two weeks, the health ministry said.
"The number of deaths linked directly or indirectly to the heat ... can be estimated at around 3,000 for the whole of France," the ministry said in a statement.

Last I heard it was 100 dead in France, not 3,000. Methinks CNN is making a deliberate "mistake" by choosing the 3,000 dead number.

I'm sure the French are trying to tie the U.S. to this.
U.S. causes hundred year heat wave, thousands die.
Dogs.

Can you imagine the odor? First you have the normal city odor of Paris, then hot, sweaty bodies, then rotting corpses which rot faster the hotter it is. The mind boggles.

No, it isn't CNN. They're just using the number the French put out. There are several more versions of this story on the wires. It's just like in winter when it gets exceptionally cold. The old, the weak- they might've died in another week or two or a month but the cold or heat got 'em and the gov't uses these numbers to pad their appropriation of funds. My wife has to deal with this a lot in hospitals. Lets say there's a flu outbreak. Many of the casualties would've died anyway- regardless of the flu- because they had one foot in the grave anyway. The flu comes along and is like a final nail in the coffin. But the numbers sound like a lot more in the papers because a lot of 101 yr olds and 94 yr olds who had chronic heart, liver, circulatory problems kicked off. Same with the weather casualties.

Yep, this will be used to "outrage" the French into demanding the US sign the Kyoto treaty, something they have yet to do themselves.
American SUVs equal French deaths.
Its only a matter of time.

And in no place in this article did they blame global warming or the ozone hole. They're really slipping up. Has this become unfashionable?

What exactly do they expect the government to do? Petition the UN to pass an international law prohibiting excessive heat.

Using the heat as cover-up for "enforced" euthanasia
- no more being implemented "en masse" only in Holland but since the beginning of 2003 also in France, Germany and Switzerland
