Dumbing down the script. Again.
To: Selmo
So it's no longer to be Biblically accurate?
What a sad cop-out. Gibson was tested, and found wanting. Listen for the cock to crow, Mel.

Not all the Jewish people who were present were calling for Jesus to be executed. There were many objections to such foul treatment.
But the fogging and crucifixion was a done deal because of political negotiations made behind the scenes. Even if all those present had voiced objections history would have unfolded the same way. In effect it was preordained by God.

I saw this capitulation coming weeks ago!

I'm depressed and disappointed. I thought Mel had the stones to stand up to the ADL blackmail.

"The emphasis should be more on what killed Jesus, not who killed him," said Rudin, also a columnist for Religion News Service. SARS?

In affect it was preordained by God.Amen. All history led up to the Resurrection, and all future leads from the Resurrection.
Christ crucified was God's eternal plan from before time.
God doesn't do rewrites.

"God doesn't do rewrites" . . . A classic line! Can I use it to fix my broken tag line?

Maybe Gibson needs a counter protest? I'm not going to watch the movie, now.

<< Gibson, however, belongs to a conservative Catholic group that rejects the modern papacy and Vatican II, including its overtures to non-Catholics and Jews. >>
Rubbish.
[False] Accusation by association.
Mr Gibson's father, it is alleged, belongs to such a group. Best I can tell, there is no evidence that Mr Mel Gibson is other than a devout Roman Catholic of the common-garden variety.

Dishonest-Abe's "ADL" is fulfilling its self-appointed, hatred-driven, cynical,lunatic-left-wing "liberal" fringe role as the creator of dissent among US.
And by so dividing is thus recruiting our aid to the furthering of Abe's ADL's underlying communist-internationalist agenda.
Bad Abe.

Disgusting. This is one movie I won't be watching.
To: Selmo
I wonder if he'll at least include the censored scenes on the DVD release?

If Jewish-Christian relations are healed, then what purpose would there ever be for the ADL?
Sowing seeds of dissent is therefore beneficial to the ADL leadership.

Gibson buckles/caves in...!!!!! I'm surprised that it hasn't occurred to anyone in this thread yet that this may have been preplanned.
Mel's a savvy guy -- what if he made his first drafts intentionally over-inflammatory, which would guarantee whipping up controversy.
Then, after the free publicity was milked for all it was worth, he could recut the film to be the way he intended it originally.

Before everyone gets their undies twisted, let's see another source for this story. Apparently Paul Lauer was on CNN's " Newsnight with Aaron Brown" Wednesday night (
article here) and did not mention any such "softening" of the movie, nor do we have a direct quote from Mel.
