Although his past races earned Gov. Gray Davis a reputation as an aggressive campaigner, his advisers said he'll fight the Oct. 7 recall election with a strategy based on trying to fly above the circus swirling below him.

If he is to survive the first recall election in California history, his advisers said, he must also show voters the Republican-led recall will not solve California's problems but merely aggravate them by costing $66 million dollars and possibly leaving a small, fringe group in control of nation's most populous state and the world's fifth-largest economy.

Why doesn't the Sacramento Bee just put in the Headlines -- Keep Davis for Governor. Would save them having to write articles!

Sure glad when I lived there I lived in SoCal in San Bernadino County! I don't think I could take Northern California!

Davis is foul!

He's a lying, labor-market protectionist whore from Hell!

The pub. sector labor unions say JUMP, he says How High? The taxpayers get to bend over, pay out the big obscene bucks, for min.-wage-deserving jObs - like prison guards, bus drivers!!!

Why should a BUS DRIVER make $60,000 -- what a bio-tech lab researcher MAKES?! Bus Driving - is High-school student WORK! THey should be earning $2 an Hour!!!!!

Unions, they HOSE EVERYBODY! They walk away Laughing, funneling 1% of state paychecks to the DNC out of union dues... & the cycle continues. We need to privatize this nonsense > Now!

Notice that when Grayout talked about the budgets, he dramtically UNDERSTATED the crisis; when he talks about the cost of the recall, it seems to triple every day! Wow, we're up to $66 million since Saturday!

To remain gubernatorial, don't you have to be gubernatorial in the first place?

Gray's real strategy: Keep head down, engage in massive fraud to obtain a slim majority against the recall, hope nobody finds out.

Seems a bit late for him to suddenly start acting like a statesman but the media will carry his water for him. Nothing new.

And another thing....

Back when this was instated, $3,500 bucks was a lot of money. Inflation should have been accounted for, and then we wouldn't have 14,000 people running.

The cost may go higher than 70 mill, since EACH one running gets to write 250 words and that has to be mailed out to every registered voter. It will be the size of a phone book, and will have to mailed first class to get there in time.

Well, I'm surprised we don't have MORE 'names' on the Recall ballot! You can't PAY for that kind of advertising / publicity: Getting your NAME & business WebPAGE (inserted into your "position Stmt. on running for Gov) mailed into EVERY HOME IN CALIF, for only $3,500. -

Quite a Deal - & entirely subsized by Taxpayers!

Lived at 3200 feet and can remember it being over 100 during the day and had to put on a sweatshirt in the evening when the sun went down.

One time it was over 110 and even the water coming out of the sprinklers was warm. Took my three kids and the dog and went to Big Bear for the day!
