Israel is getting rid of the Uzi. The world-famous submachine gun is being replaced by a weapon called the Tavor, which draws on lessons the Israeli military has learned during the nearly three-year Palestinian intifada.
The new weapon is lighter than the Uzi and has large vents to prevent dust clogs and sights that allow the shooter to aim with both eyes open, according to Reuters.
The first Tavors, manufactured by Israel Military Industries, have been issued to elite Israeli infantry units.

Gotta get me one of these. I like the commando version, or the micro. You'd think they'd use a better round than the 5.56mm NATO.

Muttly really hates "blow-by"...that blast of air in the eyes when shooting automatic stuff, or revolvers.
Ever blow air in a dog's face ? We just don't like it. So, this gas-venting feature really appeals to we shooting doggies. I must admit, though, that blow-by does make us look even cuter when our ears flop back...or in my case, when the tail on my Raccoonskin Cap stands up.

Hey Laz...did you actually READ this one ?No. I assume that they meant, from the headline, that they physically dropped Uzi's.

I think I will keep my Uzi.I would to and I'll bet the IDF will wish they had kept theirs. The magazine behind the trigger is a design that's as old as the semi-automatic and is eventually rejected as being difficult for the average soldier to shoot with any accuracy. This is nothing more than the re-invention of the square wheel.

Looks a bit like the FAMAS (Frog gun) or the Brits' SA-80, doesn't it. What's up with the Euro bullpup trend??
