Women have come a long way in 50 years - but not when it comes to being leaner and fitter. A new report claims women were in much better shape 50 years ago than their descendants today, despite the modern obsession with dieting and working out.

Now it's Christmas in July in some stores. It's aggrevating and I hate to shop until Thanksgiving. That's when I start decorating the house, too. I love Christmas. We spend a lot of money that we could probably better use for something else but it's a joy to give people something they really like. We don't go overboard anymore because with a new house we have enough to pay out, but sometimes I find something old that I've had on a shelf or another memento and people enjoy that just as much. I also frame pictures as a hobby and have given them. M

And they didn't sit around swilling wine and watching Sex in the City or Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.

I did not know what Mcdonalds was. My mother forbid that food and I was born in 64. We also drank Ice Tea and there was always Tab Soda for my dad.

You're welcome.

You'll just love going through those websites! You'll get lost in the '50's. What fun!

weren't complaining all the time

You know, you have a great point there.

I just had family in town for a week. I could not believe the amount of complaining they did. After, a while it just got so iritating, I was complaining about all their complaining! LOL

We aren't big complainers in my family. My kids learned early on...complaining is futile. Suck it up and deal with it, that's our motto.

We used to get up at three o'clock in the morning and lick the road clean with our tongues.

But you tell the kids of today that, and they won't believe you.

"some of us still clean and cook!"

So do I! I don't cook as much as when the kids were growing up. It's been just my husband and me for several years, but boy! I still do a heap of daily work. I'm not overweight. I'm 5'4" and weigh 115 lbs. Same size I was when I was in my teens. And I'm a grandma of 3.

Why, thank you.

And if you take out the third, fifth and sixth letters you get "Red Digest". :)

Iced tea!! Best drink in the house!! I still live on that! It's inexpensive, I don't put sugar or any sweeteners in mine. No carbonation in tea, either. Iced tea!!! It's so good for you!!

We had half a handful of freezing cold gravel, worked twenty-four
hours a day at the mill for fourpence every six years, and when we
got home, our Dad would slice us in two with a bread knife.

We were so poor we had to walk barefooted to school...uphill, both ways. In the winter, Dad wrapped our bare feet in barb wire so we wouldn't slip on the ice.

Y'all could afford barb wire?

Snob!!!!!!!
