Na, Tivo records digital programming just fine (Directv is digital).
The problem is the extra bandwidth of HDTV requires a faster box and the HDTV/Tivo box won't be out until late '03 or '04.

Really? I had no idea that TIVO is going to support HDTV. Hmm. I got a replaytv for a year now, and I love it.

I dunno what your talking about. I have a TiVo (Love it) and HDTV and if I wathch HDTV channels I have to turn Tivo off because it cant handle those signals even a little bit. If its on I just get a black screen.

Since HDTV is digital, isn't this just a simple matter of recording the already digital, already compressed stream and saving it to a hard disk?

I believe this is what the HDTV tuner cards available for the PC do.
