If you will, please remember this tiny baby in your prayers. Hes the grandson of a very dear friend of mine. Logan was born on July 25. His due date was in October, making his mommy 26 weeks along, being born 3 months and 3 days early.
Logan was 1 lb 9.4 oz when he was born and is now weighing, as of this morning, 1 lb. 8.3 oz. The little guy is now 12-1/2 long.
Hes a real trooper and is fighting with all his little body can fight with. His Grandma said that hes starting to recognize his mommy when she comes in the room and hears her voice. She said he tries so hard to open his eyes, and starts kicking his feet.
I asked my friend if there were any specific prayers, other than the obvious and this is her reply A prayer of thanks for the miracle called "Logan.
On a personal note, Ive read the emails daily from my friend. Ive known her for years, Ive heard her talking about her family for years but Ive got to tell you that Im SO impressed with how her children have all banded together in support. What an incredibly wonderful and loving family.
Father God, we lift up Logans little body to you. We pray that you can strengthen him hourly, daily, weekly, until hes grown enough to go home with his precious family. We ask for guidance for the doctors and nurses who are caring for him. We ask for strength for his parents and extended family. Thank you so much for the gift of life. In Jesus Name, Amen
Fellow Freepers .I bring you Logan!!!
Well, first let me start out with some really good news!
The baby is up to 12 lbs. 2 oz and he is 23 3/4" long! He's hit a growth spurt and it seems everything is going to his length !! It's just amazing to watch him on a daily basis ... and see the clothes he wore last week become too tight against his toes the week after. The doctor says that the reason he isn't gaining weight is because it's all going to his length. Makes sense to me. Although he had gained from 11lbs 8 oz to the 12. 2, so they weren't worried about it.
His lungs sound good!! He still has some reflux problems, but for the most part, he's able to keep swallowing and keep his milk down. So maybe, just maybe he's going to outgrow that problem.
Many of you know that Logan is scheduled for surgery tomorrow. He is going to have the hydocele fixed. They will circumcise him at the same time. At least he will be asleep for that!! The surgery is supposed to take about an hour, and they will go back thru the incisions that they made for the hernia surgery. The same doctors will be the team for this surgery that was on the last surgery.
For me, I am scared to death because of the problems with the anesthesia that he encountered last time. But we're told that he's much bigger, much stronger, and should do well. PLEASE PRAY THAT HE WILL.
Yesterday Logan turned 7 months old. I can't even begin to tell you of the joy this child has brought to us in those 7 months. He's bright eyed, smiles and "talks" all of the time, and is beginning to use some of his motor function skills. He can now turn from his back to his side, from his stomach to his back, he can reach for his rattle and hold on to it, and he also attempts to hold his bottle when you're feeding him. And let us not forget how he was able to pull the canula off of his face at will !! LOL There is nothing in the world like walking into the house in the morning and having that little one greet me with a smile. It makes the whole world "OK" .
Now.... Logan has another bump in the road to get over. He's climbed mountains, so surely a little bump won't be much for such a tiger :)
Beth will take off of work for a week to nurse him back to health and I'll still go in every day to give her a little relief too. Besides the relief, I don't think I could stay away from him. He is so responsive to those of us who are around him all the time. I just want him to know that "Nana" is there too........ and always will be.
He has also been back to the eye doctor, and he has underdeveloped blood vessels in his eyes. We're told that this accounts for him crossing his eyes and getting that "big eyed" look that he does. In 3 months, he will be tested to see if glasses can help him. Mercy! If he has to wear glasses, they're going to have to glue them on him. He was so good at pulling the canula off, I can only imagine what he'll be able to do with glasses! But as long as they can keep "fixing" him...... all will be well with the world for us. And thank You God for the fixes.
Speaking of "big eyed" look..... Logan is so used to the camera in his face that when you hold it up.... that's the look we get! He poses!! ggggggg In order to catch him without that look, you have to sneak up on him and snap it quick!!
Friends, the whole world is Logan's toy. He recognizes the dogs that they have, his mommy and daddy, me and those who see him often. He can clamp his lips shut tighter than a lock when he doesn't want any more milk, and can make raspberries with his mouth and spit until his whole suit is wet in the front. Quite big steps for a little guy that started life so small ! But we've all watched him.... watched the miracle of his development and the fight of this amazing little infant.
I'm attaching a picture of him that was taken yesterday. We celebrated the goodness of God in allowing us to have him. Please pray that all will continue to go well for him..... tomorrow and forever. He IS such a special baby.
Our love to you all, our thanks for your love and prayers and caring.
Logan's Nana
Father God, we return again to your throne, asking for prayer for Logan. Please Lord, guide the surgeon's hands, their minds, their decisions. Lord, be with Logan in the operating room, hold his precious little body in yours. Please let this surgery be fast, simple, and 100% healing to his body.
Lord, THANK YOU for all you've done in Logan's life. Such GREAT things have been accomplished, with your help. We praise you for that and thank you.
Thank you for being our God. In His Name, Amen!
I am lighting my candle and asking that God will send my angels and Jimmy's angels to be with Logan tomorrow.
I know. I was standing outside peering in the window. HAHHAHAAAAAAAAAA
Diva, THANK YOU for sharing this with your little one. You're teaching him a WONDERFUL spiritual lesson...praying for one another. God bless YOU, real big.
