Prayer Request for A Tiny Baby (Update in post #12850)
Myself | 8-11-03 | Brad's Gramma

Posted on 08/11/2003 12:57:30 PM PDT by Brad’s Gramma

If you will, please remember this tiny baby in your prayers. He’s the grandson of a very dear friend of mine. Logan was born on July 25. His due date was in October, making his mommy 26 weeks along, being born 3 months and 3 days early.

Logan was 1 lb 9.4 oz when he was born and is now weighing, as of this morning, 1 lb. 8.3 oz. The little guy is now 12-1/2” long.

He’s a real trooper and is fighting with all his little body can fight with. His Grandma said that he’s starting to recognize his mommy when she comes in the room and hears her voice. She said he tries so hard to open his eyes, and starts kicking his feet.

I asked my friend if there were any specific prayers, other than the obvious…and this is her reply…” A prayer of thanks for the miracle called "Logan.”

On a personal note, I’ve read the emails daily from my friend. I’ve known her for years, I’ve heard her talking about her family for years…but I’ve got to tell you that I’m SO impressed with how her children have all banded together in support. What an incredibly wonderful and loving family.

Father God, we lift up Logan’s little body to you. We pray that you can strengthen him hourly, daily, weekly, until he’s grown enough to go home with his precious family. We ask for guidance for the doctors and nurses who are caring for him. We ask for strength for his parents and extended family. Thank you so much for the gift of life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen

Fellow Freepers…….I bring you Logan!!!

Prayers for Logan's complete recovery. Wow, from the pictures, I cannot believe how much he has grown. God bless him.

Is he in pain, or itching...or is it just a splotchy red? I am going to look up Erythema Multiforme to figure out what it is. Please keep us posted, and tell Logan's mom we are praying.

Judging from the pictures, this nasty stuff hasn't affected Logan's good spirits. He's a fighter!

Prayers continue....

Erythema Multiforme

Erythema multiforme (EM) is an acute, self-limiting, inflammatory skin eruption. The rash is made of spots that are red welts, sometimes with purple or blistered areas in the center. It often also affects the mouth, eyes and other moist surfaces. Erythema multiforme has been so named because of the "multiple forms" it appears in; there is a large degree of variety in its clinical presentation. This variation has led to EM being divided into two overlapping subgroups (EM minor and Stevens-Johnson syndrome). These are different faces of the same disease.

EM is relatively common problem for a dermatologist. Half the cases are in young people (under 20). It rare both under the age of 3 and over the age of 50. Males are slightly more affected than females and there is no racial predilection. One third of EM sufferers will have a recurrence of the disease. Seasonal epidemics are common.

BG, it hasn't progressed into Stevens Johnson Syndrome, has it? If I understand what I have read correctly, we should be praying very specifically for no complications and no progression to SJS.

Not that I heard this morning...I do know that if this doesn't flush out of his system that yes, there can be complications.

I have had that exact same problem with regard to Aleeve; I had to be admitted to the hospital twice before the doctors figured out what it was.

Note: each progress "attack" is worse than the one before.

In my case, when I would show up in the ER, they would give me a Benadryl and Tagamet IV, which would make the welts go away; unfortunately, they did not realize that I was also allergic to Benadryl (I have to take Vistoril) and the welts would disappear, only to return within hours.

I am telling you this: this is VERY painful. It is so bad, that if you cry, that leaves welts on your face.

Bless his heart.

Once they figure out exactly what is involved in his problem, he will be fine.

I haven't had an attack in years. But I have to know the derrivative of EVERY drug I use.

I've seen that myself -- on me and then on my youngest daughter when she was about 15 months old. We are both very allergic to Augmentin and Amoxicillin.

By His stripes...HEALED!!!

AMEN! Father, You are the God of healing. We know that if Jesus walked the earth today, He would hold little Logan in His arms and the disease would leave him immediately. We know also that the Word has already been spoken on Logan's behalf. By His stripes Logan has been healed! We proclaim this healing and praise You for Your wonderful work on the cross. Give peace to this family and help them to safely trust in the truth of Your Word, applying it to themselves and their precious child. In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
