Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger voted for a 1994 ballot measure to deny social services to illegal immigrants, his campaign said Sunday -- offering the first glimpse of the actor's stand on a major policy issue.

The Republican has promoted himself as the candidate in California's gubernatorial recall who can best appeal to the state's politically and ethnically diverse electorate.

Arnold is for all that. Ergo, he is a socialist.

How do you figure Arnold is for all of that spending? What evidence do you have?

"How do you figure Arnold is for all of that spending? What evidence do you have?"

His own words, and the programs he proposes and supports. Take, for example, his much-hyped After School program. At a cost of $500,000,000, it is to keep school kids "out of trouble" and give them "something to do" after school, between the hours of 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. What a crock! That's a half BILLION dollars totally thrown away on a "feel good" program that actually does little or nothing. When I was a school kid (and granted, I'm in my 50s now) we ALWAYS found things to do after school, none of which led to bad things or crimes or societal horrors. We played sports; we worked after-school jobs (yes, school kids did that back then); we went to the libfary; we did our homework. What kids need nowadays is a massive dose of responsibility and disciplne, not feel-good hand-holding programs where they sit around in a circle to get in touch with their feelings and sing Kumbaya.

Then why was it endorsed by the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers association? The Terminator said so himself when he was campaigning for it, I watched him speak. Paying money towards those programs prevents higher costs later by keeping kids out of trouble. That was the frame of mind Schwarzenegger took as he approached the problem, and he calculated just how much money it would be worth spending to save more in the long run. That initiative was an example of why we should elect him: he's interested in saving us money.

Dems and Independents who hated, absolutely HATED, Pete Wilson

I remember Wilson's being pelted with oranges when he spoke at Stanford. Not just anywhere on campus, or in some generic auditorium, but in the Inner Quad. And they threw oranges at him. Glad he is back to haunt the orange-throwing leftist wackos of the state.

Grifter & jerk sounds pretty ugly. That you would employ such terms with no provocation leaves a rather bad impression.

I just read a few of their pages & found little to suggest any unusual views. They seem only to have what most folks would call positive views. They lobby for Christian views & imply they work with specific churches & organizations.

http://traditionalvalues.org/sections.php?op=viewarticle&artid=21

Traditional Values Coalition is the largest non-denominational, grassroots church lobby in America. Founded in 1980, TVC has sought to empower people of faith with truth.

TVC’s membership of over 43,000 churches bridges racial and socio-economic barriers and includes most Christian denominations. Churches across the United States and throughout Puerto Rico are members of TVC and many participate in our Latino Outreach or work closely with the Asian American Family Alliance.
With an emphasis on the restoration of the values needed to maintain strong, unified families, Traditional Values Coalition focuses upon issues such as education, homosexual advocacy, family tax relief, pornography, the right to life and religious freedom.

While Traditional Values Coalition is a lobbying organization, its sister organization, Traditional Values Education & Legal Institute, is a foundation dedicated to educating and supporting churches in their efforts to restore America’s cultural heritage.

TVC believes America’s strength is in her churches. Pastors and their churches are not barred by law from being involved in the making of public policy. Traditional Values Coalition is a resource for Christians and pastors, providing education on the representative process and up-to-the-minute public policy information.

I am only interested in making folks realize what a purely mass hysteria is afoot. It resembles, in many ways, the Perot event.

The entire circus may be said to be a bad deal for everyone. It is entirely proper by California law but the real numbers add up to very few people 'electing' the new gov.

I have no grudge against anyone or for any candidate. McClintock ( you named him ) does look more prepared. He may however be a too light weight to carry the state. 'They' say Simon ran a bad campaign-but his real experience sounds pretty good, compared to a successful body-builder turned actor-producer & investor.

I would in any case prefer to see some one who was not married at the Kennedy home, had not renownced morality & the Constitution as gov of California.

I think I must agree with some one today who said that Joe Lieberman is more of a Republican than Arnold ( who might properly be called a Demo by his views ).

"PhiKapMom doesn't "tell" anyone how to vote. She puts forth her views as do so many more here from OTHER STATES who happen to be on YOUR side, the FAR FAR FAR FAR FAR RIGHT side, who refuse to accept anyone not in lockstep with YOUR beliefs. Let's see you gripe about THAT."

If you want to vote for AS then do so...but PhiKapMom is not the issue, God bless her, But the issue is the RINO insistence that we compromise our beliefs which I will not do... But what I fear is that one day you will be standing by YOUR beliefs, and finding yourself in the bolshevik camp.

So don't vote for Arnold -- I couldn't care less how you vote.
