Schwarzenegger's race helps GOP (immigrant persona deemed a plus)

Arnold Schwarzenegger's bid to recapture the California governorship for the Republicans could dramatically change the face of their party in a major electoral state that is one of the Democrats' biggest political strongholds.

"If Schwarzenegger is able to win this and able to successfully govern California, he plants an inclusive Republican flag in a state that Democrats have taken for granted in the last several presidential election cycles," said an unidentified Republican Party official.

I will still check Gallup friend tomorrow but check drudge right now. Time will tomorrow publish a Time/CNN poll of 503 Californians, MOE +/- 4.3%, all taken on Friday, 8/8/03: Schwarzenkennedy 25%; Bustamente 13%; McClintock 9%; Simon 7%; Larry Flint!!!! 4%; Arianna!!!! 4%; Ueberroth 4%. I may be off by a point or two on Simon and McClintock but it is on Drudge now and anyone can check. Only 68% express a preference (that's why I see a 2% discrepancy)

"Liberals can repeat over and over and over again that only RINOs win but RINOs don't win....

...What on earth reason is there for rewarding Schwarzenkennedy who is a Catholic in Name Only (not just a RINO) for supporting abortion specifically and faggotry in general?????? "

Yep...

"Compassionate conservatism" or RINO-ism is the kiss of death for GOP candidates; Media darlings loved John McCain, Jack Kemp, and Bob Dole, but only because they fragmented the GOP.

The modus operandi of the RATS -- aided and abetted by the media -- is to divide and conquer by speading this myth that "too conservative" means "no chance to win." Here at Free Republic, far too many STILL buy into the hype!

RINOs by their own definition, MUST sell out on principle, renege on promises, vacillate and/or on social issues, and finally SELL OUT it's constituency time after time -- in the name of the BIG TENT.

Just what is "won" after politico-viral RINOs have infected our government?? The media and Democratic socialists know all too well.

The discrepancy of 2% was on Bustamente who gets 15% not 13%. To recap: Time/CNN poll taken 8/8/03: 54% for recall and 35% against recall Schwarzenkennedy 25%

Bustamente 15%

McClintock 9%

Simon 7%

Larry Flynt (ROFLMAO) 4%

Arianna!!! 4%

Ueberroth 4%

TOTAL preferences 68%

I have found a Gallup/CNN/USA TODAY poll of 801 Californians, taken 8/7 and one or two other contiguous days, and reported on 8/10, which shows: 42% "may well vote for" Schwarzenkenedy, 22% Bustamente; 13% Simon, indicates that it asked as to 8 candidates of a possible 150. The wording does make a difference. This post was third on the Breaking News section as I began this post. Check for yourself.

OK. So Arnold's 20 points ahead of Bustamante and 29 points ahead of Simon. No McClintock on the radar.

Does this not give you pause?

Not quite.

Tosco bankrolled Wilson's campaign, gave kickbacks to his cronies, and bilked the people of California out of billions with the MBTE scheme. -MBTE is a toxic carcinogenic byproduct of the oil refinery business. With Wilson's help, Tosco not only did not have to "dispose" of this waste but actually got the taxpayers to buy it. MBTE had been outlawed in at least 3 other states as he got California's Air Management Resource Board to require it. This crapola not only fouled California's ground water, but reduced gas milage by as much as 20%. As a reward, Wilson's wife has wound up in a cushy board position on the Air Resource Managment Board on a 100 K/ year salary.

We are still suffering for Wilson and his sellout. Tosco kept Wilson in politics. Look for the sellout to pop up again in Cali-fornicate politics.

Yeah- it is a Boston Globe "conspiracy" as the corrupt midget whined for years. There was "no proof" about a lot of things Clinton did either . . .

Tosco also owned the infamous refinery on I-680 in Pacheco (Bay Area) that kept blowing up, most recently killing 4 workers in a flash fire a few years ago. It was sold to Valero.

Pete Wilson won '94 because he supported 187. Then the Republican streak of 16 straight years of controlling the governorship ended in '98.

Pete Wilson also promised to serve a full term when directly asked during his debate with Kathleen Connell for Governor in 1994. One month after being sworn in for a second term, Wilson announced his run for the Presidency. Not only that, but he didn't even announce in California. He went to Manhattan to do it, so he could have the Statue of Liberty as his backdrop.

You and Dyson sound suspiciously like the same person using different monikers for your never-ending "anti RINO" rants.

Typical DUmmy tactic. When in doubt, question your opponent's existence.

Is there a real difference between Arnold and his Idol William Jefferson Blythe Clinton or will Arnie kill the GOP in California by being as bad or worse than Davis? The emotional response is a short term thing but the minute that Arnie starts moving money to fund HIS pet programs at the expense of us taxpayers (the Kennedy trademark) then it becomes ALL Pubbies did this. A bad bad thing for party viability. McClintock for me thank you very much.

However, in Texas, Bush appealed to hispanics and now the state is solidly Republican and growing more so every year.

Nothing succeeds like success. Arnold Schwarzenegger will be the next governor of California and welcome George W. Bush to the state.

California will resume being the land of dreams realized instead of the land of red ink.

Arnold is a very good businessman--who also cares about--drumroll--the children.

Except, with him, it's not special effects, but genuine.

McClintock is a fine man and well qualified, but he cannot win this one, no way, no how.

We often accused Clinton-Gore of fuzzy math.

Davis polls higher than McClintock.

Arnold Scwarzenegger will be the next governor of California.

It was sixteen years from Goldwater to Reagan, and McClintock hasn't the name recognition of Goldwater.

Fifty-eight days.
