Force Simon Out!
Posted on 08/10/2003 12:33:36 AM PDT by DrMartinVonNostrand
Bill Simon must be stopped. He is heading towards losing TWO election for Republicans in California. Simon needs to be convinced by any means neccessary to drop out and put his support behind Tom McClintock. California FReepers must organize to get the message to him. Put up signs in front of his home, direct confrontation, action committes and networks, whatever it takes.
California cannot afford to have Bill Simon blow yet another election. We have put too much work into making this recall happen, and its Simon's fault in the first place. He is obviously too stupid to get a hint so we need to make it very obvious to him.
Simon is poised to rob both McClintock and Schwarezegger of the election and hand it to Bustamante.

I wonder what word in "You lost in the general election, the voters rejected you when you had the chance' he doesn't understand!

His campaign theme is, I kid you not, "I told you so."
Way to win friends and influence people there, Bill.

I have too agree. He was that close because of the Dems. Now that there is another Dem. in the race he will not get their votes.

Agreed. Write him a letter.
I did.

Simon needs to get out. Those considering
supporting need to all come on board with McClintock
quickly. McClintock already is ahead of Simon
despite much lower ID.
So we have a chance to knock Simon out.
So that even if Simon does not drop out
the media and everybody else will right
him off and accept that McClintock
is the Conservative candidate in California.
And the only real Republican who can win!
To: Carry_Okie
What's his email and home address? Phone number?
Anyone?
If he wasn't so incompetent as to lose to the most unpopular governor in California history, we wouldn't even be holding this recall. A smart man in his position would have been too ashamed to enter the recall race.

McClintock won't get any media attention, despite his being the most qualified candidate on the ballot.
So far the only mention of him I even seen from major media has been from Fred Barnes. Even still he is mentioned as a side-note.
Anyone with media connections who can get McClintock more attention?
To: DrMartinVonNostrand
Yes, Simon needs to drop out. He never should have gotten in. This isn't a primary - this is for all the marbles. He had his shot and screwed it up. We wouldnt be dealing with this recall issue had he run a competent campaign the first time. I even donated money to him the last time around. He didnt spend it well.

"A smart man in his position would have been too ashamed to enter the recall race."
What a fickle bunch, the "real conservatives" are. No loyalty. Last November everybody sang his praises.
I'm amazed he could pass the bar.
In six weeks, will similar calls go out for McClintock to drop out, if his continuation would turn the election to the dems?
To: DrMartinVonNostrand
I'm hip to that. Schwarzenegger should do the same.

What a fickle bunch, the "real conservatives" are. No loyalty. Last November everybody sang his praises. All generalities are false, including this one.
Hint: your "everybody" is actually "everybody" - me. I voted for him, but I had to hold my nose when I did. The guy was damaged goods from the git-go.

If the conservative radio talk and internet
starts talking him up then Fox will
follow and that would put up the polls
and then all the media would pay attention.
He is in third right now and and in striking
range just a little higher and he can't
be ignored.
To: Princeliberty
McClintock is scheduled to appear later today on ABC's This Week with George StepOnAllOfUs.

Yes, I think we all agree on this, but we need more than just agreement. We need action. I hope this thread can evolve into a discussion of how we can get the message to Simon and convince him to drop out. And time is short, we need to accomplish this before its too late to remove his name from the ballot.
Already, if Simon's support went to McClintock, McClintock would be in second place, ahead of Bustamante by 1%. Should to novelty of Schwarzenegger's candidacy start to grow thin, the ONLY hope for Republicans is a solid base behind McClintock. Even 1% support going to Simon could hand the election to the Democrats. When you start to look at the numbers, you begin to realize just how much damage Simon will do to the entire recall effort we have worked so hard to achieve.
Simon needs to be made to understand that Californians didn't push this recall FOR him, we did it BECAUSE OF him.
To: DrMartinVonNostrand; All
When people demand of him that he get out, they need to also demand that he enthusiastically endorse McClintock.
