"McClintock can win if we consevatives unite
behind him"

---

The way Simon "won" in the last election, when Republicans did unite behind him?

And isn't it funny how the ARINOLD backers keep screaming McClintock (lost statewide by less than 1%) "can't win", but G.W. Bush (lost statewide by 12%+ will magically be a "shoo-in" as long as ARINOLD is Governor?

Major Right on BUMP...

McClintock can win if we consevatives unite

A Republican can not win in California without getting votes from outside the GOP. No Independents or Democrats will vote for McClintock. Simon and McClintock will split the anti-Arnold Republican vote, and neither will get any votes from Democrats or Independents. Both Simon and McClintock do not have an icecube's chance in hell.

Ever heard of a "Reagan Democrat"? Those were the voters that gave Reagan his victories. You cannot win California without Democrats and Independents. That is a fact.

It further shows he intends to govern as
a liberal. McClintock can win if
conservatives unite behind him.

If Davis switched parties would you support
him then?

Another Keyster telling the people of California who merits their vote?Don't you ever get tired of being sanctimonious...and losing?

Reagan Democrats tended to blue collar
socially conservative types.
Exactly the kind of people McClintock
can get. McClintock has a clear
message and middle class appeal.

He can win and he would be a great governor.
He is running on Reagan's issues.

Oh you would be upset if a man who wants
to cut taxes and spending got elected
Governor of California?

If Davis was a Republican would you support him?

The Republicans in TN and IL tried your strategy five years ago and accomplished ABSOLUTELY NOTHING

Not a good comparison because that was not a recall election. The recall was a bad idea by a conservative Republican. If the recall goes through and McClintock did win (which would never happen)McClintock could get nothing done because the state is in the complete control of Democrats. The assembly would resist and sabotage a Republican's every move. The Republican Party would be blamed for everything that stayed a mess, plus we would be punished like we were after the impeachment because we are "mean spiritted."

The recall was a bad idea, but now that it is on the ballot, Arnold is the smart vote. Arnold will be able to work with both sides of the aisle. Everyone will want to be on Arnold's good side and get those invitations to the dinners and parties at the Governor's Mansion. If he succeeds, California will be financially sound and a model for lifting laws and fees which drive out business. We can all celebrate how a fiscally conservative Republican saved the day.

If Arnold fails we can all point out the things the Arnold bashers are saying,"He really wasn't one of us." Or, "Don't blame me, I voted for McClintock."

"So... instead we got Simon in the general election who, despite votes from many of the previously PRO-RIORDAN crowd, including ME (I had to hold my nose to vote for Simon), caused us to have Davis again and the rest is history. "

---

Exactly. The tragedy is that they haven't learned a thing and insist on repeating the same mistakes over and over and over -- to the great delight of the Democrats,

McClintock couldn't even win the election for STATE CONTROLLER, so what makes anyone think he could win the election for governor under the current circumstances?

He is running on Reagan's issues.

But without Reagan's star power, charism, and name recognition.

I am sure he is a nice guy, but he does not have a chance.

vb, I'm starting to wonder if the Dems have figured out the best way to destroy Republicans is to subvert us from within; ie, claim Riordan and company are Republicans, then run them with leftist agendas. It's working. Dems are evil but very crafty.

I am a Californian and a Republican. I was Chairman of a county GOP in the '90's, a county with more people than several states. I was a vice-Chairman of a successful ballot intitiative in 1996, Prop 209. Perhaps you have heard of it.

I am for McClintock.

Make of it what you will.

LOL! Riordan couldn't handle Gray Davis in two short months and somehow you think he could have done better with eight more months of Davis attacking him (and much of what he said was the truth). Riordan would have lost by a greater margin than Tom Campbell's loss to Dianne Feinstein. But Davis was only a small part of Riordan's problem. Riordan's mouth was his undoing. Somebody needed to remind him who to appeal to in a primary. He was handed a 40 point lead with GOP and media backing and he fumbled the ball. If Simon is a LOSER, then RIORDAN is that and more. Snicker.

I made the "pragmatic" (a commonly used term these days) choice in Simon and I had said that the three main candidates (Simon, Riordan, and Jones) had a tough fight ahead of them. I wanted somebody better, but McClintock wasn't running for that position.

Yes, I have.I've read your stuff. You also will lose if you support McClintock, but being a Keyster, you are comfortable with that, aren't you?

What do you have, as Republicans, at the State level, to show for all your "principles"?Have you ever thought about changing a losing game?
