Not a good comparison because that was not a recall election. The recall was a bad idea by a conservative Republican. If the recall goes through and McClintock did win (which would never happen)McClintock could get nothing done because the state is in the complete control of Democrats. The assembly would resist and sabotage a Republican's every move. The Republican Party would be blamed for everything that stayed a mess, plus we would be punished like we were after the impeachment because we are "mean spiritted."
The recall was a bad idea, but now that it is on the ballot, Arnold is the smart vote. Arnold will be able to work with both sides of the aisle. Everyone will want to be on Arnold's good side and get those invitations to the dinners and parties at the Governor's Mansion. If he succeeds, California will be financially sound and a model for lifting laws and fees which drive out business. We can all celebrate how a fiscally conservative Republican saved the day.
If Arnold fails we can all point out the things the Arnold bashers are saying,"He really wasn't one of us." Or, "Don't blame me, I voted for McClintock."
