A recent national poll served up a platter of quirky if revealing differences in the day-to-day habits of Democrats and Republicans.

I look at this poll and I find myself saying: OK, who took this poll or survey or whatever it is -- the NYT? Then, obviously, there's no telling WHAT people actually said in response...

"Democrats were more likely to let their heart rule..."

LOL. It's the old joke: Howw do you tell a liberal from a conservative?
The liberal says, "I feel....", but
the conservative says, "I think."

Watching MTV makes you hip? What delusional dweeb came up with this poll?

I thought the "I often buy on impulse" question was interesting -- if the results are true, it makes me realize why swing voters are sometimes reluctant to vote Dem.

Note the question mark after that section of the poll. Watching MTV's "Jackass" might make you nauseous, but certainly not "hip."

Democrats were more likely to let their heart rule...

That explains a great many things about Democrats.

The most statistically significant piece of data is gun ownership. It is close to 60% for Republicans, and seems to define party membership. That is a good thing.

Interesting survey, though it has the inherent problem of relying on self-reporting data to reach its conclusions, whatever they may be. For example, knowing a liberal's penchant to lie, can we realy trust self-reporting when someone from the left reports their income to be "less than $20,000?"

As well, questions as to whether someone considers theirself overweight are quite subjective - without a definition of overweight, the answer isn't relevent, at least as far as obesity is concerned. It may give some insights on self-image, however.

There's hope in those stats; with any luck, Dems will "try this at home", just like the hip show demonstrated.
