DALLAS - Those at the National Association of Black Journalists who stood and gave National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice a standing ovation Thursday were few and far between in the Landmark Ballroom of this city's downtown Hyatt Regency Hotel.
Rice strode into the ballroom after Gwen Ifill of PBS introduced her. There were no boos, catcalls or jeers as the audience applauded, but there wasn't the thunderous, almost unanimous standing ovation given another NABJ speaker seven years ago.

Apparently the black journalists prefer "black leaders" over world leaders who happen to be black.

The fact is as Al Sharpton said, she is black but not my and the Democrat Parties type of black. In other words we dont want to be stereo typed but you have to be like we say you should be. To move up and be one of us you have to march in lockstep and kiss Jesse Jackson ring! You must not have an independant thought.
Wonder how the NAACP is going to rein Leo Therrel back in? Forgive the spelling. Something has to give because if you are not a token in the group their is no room for you or independant thinking.

Nah, Condi Rice, Colin Powell and Clarence Thomas are all proof that hard work and staying in school works, no matter your political affiliation.

The very 'concept ' of diversity is flawed & produces flawed argument, defective conclusions, wrong acts.
Liberalism ( modern, the product of marxism ) KILLS-babies, jobs, language & culture, and ( it will kill ) an entire civilization, if we allow it.

The headline sort of grates though. "Even among conservatives". This is still playing into the stereotype of conservatives being a bunch of Mein Kampf reading Klansmen and that it is a "pleasant surprise" to learn that there are indeed some blacks in our ranks.
To: Elkiejg
The forum & action referenced here is a false & petty play-one which is a farce of our contemporary, hollow & vacuous, public dialogue.

"...the black community."
Funny that even MLK had the whole idea more correctly phrased..."content of character...", in lieu of skin pigment. Evfen the org name & the discussion of the events is couched in Orwellian language.

"The headline sort of grates though."
Well, it does, and it doesn't describe the piece well at all. But remember, the columnists and reporters don't write the headlines - they have no control over them.

The article is exactly the opposite of your comment and he is lasting blacks for their mind set. Blasting in his own way but still his points should make people that wish color blind to be in our actions to rejoice.

Kane placed three words back-to-back that really must enrage the plantation community, viz., ERUDITE BLACK CONSERVATIVE. It is quite possible that the word erudite has never ever been used to define ANY black Democrat leader.

Kane is a terrific asset to the public discourse in Baltimore. His pieces are firm and honest, well-written and frequently very pointed, like this one. I admire his work; he makes a valuable contribution.

The article is exactly the opposite of your comment How so? My comment had to do with the headline.

Gregory Kane is from the black community.
Do you mean that he is, in fact, black? Or do you mean he's like Bill Clinton, only an honorary member? Clarifying minds want to know.

I just believe she is exactly the kind of role model, not only the blacks, but all of us should have.
