EMERGENCY FREEP this Saturday! SHOW OUR OUTRAGE OVER TAX FUNDED UNION THUG TRAINING! As Reported on Free Republic State Funds Being Used to Fight Recall Recall Gray Davis Committee mail list ^ | July 29, 2003 | Recall Davis Committee via comwatch JUST IN FROM: Howard Kaloogian Chairman, Recall Gray Davis Committee NEED RECALL SUPPORTERS FOR SATURDAY MORNING IN SACRAMENTO A quick note to our northern California friends to remind them that we need as many people as possible to join us for a recall rally/protest in Sacramento on Saturday morning (August 9th at 8:30 AM) in front of the Sheraton Grand Hotel in downtown Sacramento. SHERATON GRAND HOTEL 1230 J STREET SACRAMENTO, CA The reason this protest is so important is because we are protesting the "Workers Against Recall" anti-recall training workshop. They call it "WAR" because they have declared WAR against the recall. And Saturday morning they will be conducting one of their "WAR" workshops in the Sheraton Hotel. What's so offensive is that they have used taxpayer resources through the University of California system to organize this "WAR" effort. The Institute for Labor & Employment, University of California, was one of the original organizers of these training sessions. The first "WAR" training session was in fact scheduled to be at the UCLA Labor Center (at the taxpayer-funded UCLA campus). We raised such a storm of protest that they moved that location. But, ILE-UC employees nonetheless still helped publicize and organize the anti-recall workshops where union workers are told how they can work to defeat the recall effort at the poll by scaring voters. KXTV News 10 Sacramento (ABC affiliate) and the Sacramento Bee have already investigated this impropriety and reported on it. This past Saturday, Davis signed a budget that gave $4,000,000 to the ILE-UC. We find that reprehensible that even more taxpayer money is being taken from you and given to labor organizations who then use YOUR MONEY to fight the recall. It's DISGUSTING! We cannot let Gray Davis get away with such underhanded and sleazy campaign tactics. Please show up in force, Saturday morning at 8:30 AM at the Sheraton Grand Hotel. Bring homemade signs and lots of friends! [Thanks to our friends at the Associated Builders & Contractors who have been on the case on this issue since the beginning and have investigated the improper and we believe illegal use of taxpayer resources to wage an anti-recall political campaign]. There is nothing, and I do mean nothing they won't do to hold onto power. Disgusting, and should be recalled and then impeached, and then thrown into prison.

Can we get some more BUMPS or California/Recall pings?
We need to make sure we at least have a couple dozen people out there. Last count I did at the Recall headquarters today had us at about 15 people. Can we get 10 more people to show up (with signs a plus!)???

I sent David an email about the need to get out in front of this scandal. This is RICO, this is fraud and someone needs to stand up to union thugs. I heard him on Tom Sullivan but the message wasn't strong enough.
Having this message pulled from breaking news didn't help getting the word out to as wide an audience possible. Never have figured what moderators consider "breaking news" but guess this isn't.

Speaking of cops... The Gubbenor was busy this morning... GETTING OUT OF TOWN. I can just see him telling his reluctant CHP protection detail "I have to be in LA by X:XX A.M. You better get me there!" Davis was so unpopular that few if any CHP vets volunteered for this once popular detail. Davis doubled the size of the detail taking cops off our downtown street to do it. This I know for a fact having worked with a few of them in the past.
Maybe the thought of having to be around Davis for a road trip to LA was the reason, but it's still no excuse for being ABOVE THE LAW the rest of us must observe.
"Report: Governor's motorcade caught speeding on California road."
The Associated Press
Last Updated 6:57 a.m. PDT Saturday, August 9, 2003
SACRAMENTO (AP) -
A motorcade carrying Gov. Gray Davis did 94 mph on a 55-mph stretch of Central California road known locally as "Blood Alley" for its many accidents, it was reported Saturday.
A California Highway Patrol officer spotted two unmarked cars speeding along Highway 46 in San Luis Obispo County on Aug. 2 and chased them for five miles, CHP spokesman Tom Marshall said.
The pursuit ended when a CHP officer in the motorcade contacted a dispatcher, identified himself as a member of the dignitary protection detail and asked the pursuing officer to "back off," Marshall said.
Highway Patrol Commissioner D.O. "Spike" Helmick told the Times only that the motorcade was carrying a "dignitary."
However, the passenger was Davis, who was traveling to Los Angeles, the Times said, citing sources it did not identify. A Davis spokesman declined to comment, the newspaper said.
Helmick said he formally reprimanded a CHP sergeant in charge of the motorcade because traffic laws were broken.
At least 29 people have died since 1998 in accidents on the two-lane stretch of highway. Actor James Dean was killed there in a 1955 accident.

As I was heading back to work I heard the following:
DISPATCH: Bike 13
OFFICER: The pro recall group is breaking up and leaving. I will be standing by so they don't get harrassed by the other side. Did you have another call on this?
DISPATCH: Negative, just checking your status.
Our street cops know who's who... hope the message gets some media play bud.

RECALL SUPPORTERS ATTACKED IN SACRAMENTO
PROTEST AT TAXPAYER-FUNDED ANTI-RECALL WORKSHOP TURNS VIOLENT - DAVIS THUGS ATTACK RECALL SUPPORTERS
ATTACK CAUGHT BY FOX NEWS CHANNEL CREW
Charges To Be Filed as Recall Supporters Rushed to Emergency Room
(SACRAMENTO) Recall Gray Davis supporters were violently attacked a little more than one hour ago by Gray Davis supporters. Those who were assaulted have been taken to a local hospital emergency room in Sacramento.
A protest was underway against taxpayer-funded Workers Against the Recall workshops that were being led by a coalition of labor union organizations including the publicly-funded University of California Institute for Labor and Employment (UC ILE). The UC ILE received $4,000,000 of taxpayers money in the budget signed by Governor Davis one week ago (Saturday).
Protestors were across the street from the event marching peacefully when Davis supporters rushed across J Street in Downtown Sacramento and began beating recall supporters. Davis thugs also attempted to steal and destroy YES on RECALL signs from recall supporters.
Gray Davis anti-recall campaign continues to stoop to new levels. The use of taxpayer money to fight the peoples recall campaign is revolting. The use of violence and physical attacks against recall supporters is disgusting and reprehensible. We call on Governor Davis to save any last shred of decency he has and condemn the use of violence against innocent citizens, declared Recall Gray Davis spokesman, Joe Wierzbicki who was present at the protest.

Heard a brief sound bite from you on KFBK 1530 AM news but zip coverage from other media. There was absolutely no mention of the union thugs tactics. We'll see how Fox 40 does tonight.
Where were all those hi-tech in-car-cameras to document and arrest the thugs. The original call was dispatched as a 242p.c. complaint. No other details came out. One woman who complained that her access to the hotel was being blocked, turned out not to be a guest anyway. As I rolled up to grab a temorary parking slot, a rookie I didn't know sent me packing. Dang... wish I'd been there when the "proverbial" hit the fan. Glad everyone is okay... but let's not let this be brushed under the rug. I'll check with the sector supervisor to see if I can glean further details.

FOR THE RECORD
There seems to be disagreement over: "Charges To Be Filed as Recall Supporters Rushed to Emergency Room"
I don't like union thugs (WAR- Workers Against Recall) being coached on intimidation tactics at taxpayer expense anymore than our fearless friends who protested their Sheraton workshop today. That said, FOX 40 seems to be puffing up what police view as a non-event make headlines. We have a responsibility to accuracy even if the other side doesn't.
Frankly, the claims from our camp, as observed by officers on scene and in their reports, seem overstated.
Recall proponents didn't brief Sacramento Police that they would be engaging in a protected lawful activity. Had they, the union goons we're so familiar with would have been dealt with by more swift and appropriate action by police.
If the police have it all wrong there's a reason: the "victims" should have made contact with the officers ON THE SPOT, identify the attackers and exercise your lawful citizen's arrest for assault (a cop can't unless he/she saw it happen) The rule of law can be effective if one uses it to their advantage. A lesson for next time perhaps.

A trusted source at SPD told me the SatTrack media van crew had footage of this incident from the start. I suspect any flying fists (or other illegal conduct) would have been caught by both Fox and the stringers. For sure, it will be aired if filmed.
ANY victim can contact Sacramento police for the "Incident Report" number should they desire prosecution as a result of a documented crime. (As of noon, no "Crime Reports" had been filed. Without pressing the issue, neither the police or the District Attorney will push a simple assault. We're all of the wrong political persuasion to have civil rights violations investigated let alone prosecuted.
