Big FAT Lie. The POTUS and his staff have said NO SUCH THING, the "16 Words" term came from Bob Graham, IIRC.

We were told repeatedly that the administration had overwhelming intelligence proving that Iraq had large stocks of weapons of mass destruction and the ability to deploy them, but there were only four real items of documented evidence that were ever provided for these claims. One of those four was the forged documents from Niger that were mentioned in the president's address.

Was this document referenced? I don't think so.

What makes this even worse is that the author, Tim Joseph, is the Chairman of the county legislature. This is the kind of "leadership" that exists in Tompkins County, home of Ithaca.

Really, they might go further if they start out with a half truth instead of an outright lie.

The president never claimed Saddam PURCHASED uranium: he said Saddam TRIED to purchase uranuim.

As for the rest: Blix and company couldn't find their buttocks with both hands. Evidence HAS been found. It just hasn't all been ANALYZED yet.

I'm surprised they didn't thow in how those mobile labs were just mobile food testing facilities, with which the benevolent regime tested the quality of the NON-EXISTANT FOOD NOT EATEN BY THE STARVING IRAQI POPULATION.

This is the single piece of evidence that has not yet been discredited.

Powell's UN speech started with Blix's admission there was no "genuine acceptance, not even today, of the disarmament which was demanded of it." This continues to be the most significant, unrefuted, reason for the war. The truth is it was Hussein's failure over 12 years to put all the dots on the table and connect them that allowed this administration to get public support for the war. There were many evidentiary reasons put forward, and the ONLY discredited one was the forged documents. Atta meeting with Iraqi Intelligence in Prague, AQ/Iraqi Intelligence ties in Pakistan, uranium from Arfrica, mobile biolabs, etc., may be disputed by the libs - but they have not been discredited.

Pretty thin stuff for launching a preemptive war.

This was not a preemptive war IMO, anymore than a war with N. Korea would be preemptive - there was a continuing state of war with Iraq by the US/UK since the cease fire in 1991. We can debate scope and imminence of Iraq's threat.

The reason such poor quality evidence was used is that it was the only evidence there was to support a conclusion that had been determined in advance.

You mean when Clinton, et. al., campaigned for regime change in Iraq and codified this policy as US law in the Iraq Liberation Act?

Our men and women continue to die every day stopping a threat that never existed.

Lies. They are not, and the American and UK blood spilled on Iraqi sands have served two purposes. They are fighting, every day, the islamofacists that attacked us in 2001, and purchasing the opportunity for the Iraqi people to live in a more free and democratic society. Not a bad thing in most eyes, except for the blame America first crowd.
