As I understand the law, if Davis resigns and Bustamante takes over 'til Oct. 7, he has the right to fill the Lt. Gov. spot ... but yes, Bustamante himself will not be able to go BACK to that lower office after the recall vote. And whomever he picks to fill the Lt. Gov. spot will serve out the rest of the term, through the end of '06!

That would make it a VERY risky proposition for both Gray-Out and Bustamante; they could both very easily be out of a job by October 8.
