Here is the message received in unedited form.
This message is posted so that people can inform the office of Tom Delay and if possible counter-protest these leftists.
------------------------------------------------------
I'm forwarding a message from the Harris County Young Democrat President, Rick Brennan.
Miah, Not In Our Name
Hello all,
The HC Democratic Party-with help from Reps Rick Noriega and Garnet Coleman-are planning a protest in front of Tom Delay's office. Pick any issue and you can see why he is rip for protest. In any event, the Party would like to invite your respective groups to participate-if you would like.
The protest will take place on Friday, AUG 8, from noon until 2PM-in front of Tom Delay's office. The address is 10701 Corporate Drive, Suite 118. The office phone number is 281 240 3700, if you need it.
The media is aware already of the event and drinks will be provided by the Party. We do need people and creative signs. For more information, contact Damon Williams in Rep Coleman's office at 281 250 9848.
It is rare all of our groups can work together, but this may be one of those times. Please consider it and I hope we can do this together.
Thanks for your time.
Rick Brennan, President
HC Young Dems

I think they do that by design. They realize we can't make events during working hours. Best we can do is let the office staff know so they will be prepared.

Do not believe for one minute that Armbrister would have stayed if they had needed him. He is in a Republican district and they didn't want to make him a target. But of course ! It's all a numbers game with obstruction. If it had been a GOP edge 20-11 instead of 19-12, Arbrister would be in the high $$ Hotel too ! ...

IMHO, they're trying to take the spotlight off themselves. If true, that is a GOOD thang... It tells me they're "feelin' the heat" and trying to deflect criticism!

Sounds more like a generic democrat protest to me and using redistricting as the excuse. I wonder how many people can go on our side. As you know, getting around in Houston is never easy and once again, this is during working hours.
Looks like the DeLay people got the heads-up. That was the intention of the original post.

DEWHURST FILES WRIT OF MANDAMUS WITH TEXAS SUPREME COURT
Seeks sanctions if Senators do not return
In a just completed press conference, Lt. Governor David Dewhurst announced that he and Governor Rick Perry had asked Attorney General Greg Abbott to file a Writ of Mandamus with the Texas Supreme Court. The Governor and Lt. Governor are the plaintiffs.
The petition seeks to compel the eleven Democratic senators to return to the Texas Senate and fulfill their duties in accordance with law and the Rules of the Senate for which they had voted. The petition also seeks court ordered sanctions if they refuse to do so.
Governor Dewhurst left it up to the court to determine the sanctions. He did say that senators defying court orders and suffering sanctions would be a very serious matter.
One reporter asked if it was not a violation of separation of powers to ask the Supreme Court to sanction members of the legislative branch for breaking a quorum. Dewhurst said he did not think so.
The Lt. Governor said he expected action by the Supremes early next week.

Good news, indeed.
I hope to see y'all at the Capitol tomorrow. Have to cajole my husband, though. After all, he was so good about the road trip last week.

It is Sugar Land. For the most part Stafford is East of 59. This just happens to be in a little wedge that slips over - but everyone thinks of that area as Sugar Land.
If you are coming south on 59, just take the Dairy-Ashford exit. Take a right on D-A and continue across 90. There should be signs showing you where his office is.

First report from the Tom DeLay protest scene.
Since the protest scene was not far from the office, had a chance to swing by to offer support for Tom DeLay. Was only able to attend between 12:30pm-12:50pm so will let other write more "official" reports, but here are my observations.
Number of leftists: 15 - 20.
Number of DeLay supports: 30 - 40. They outnumbered the leftists 2-1.
Some people I talked so said they heard about the protest via the HCRP e-mail. Good job whomever contacted HCRP. They were pleased with turnout considering 24 hour notice.
Some media present. Talked to one free-lance reporter.
Will see what the media prints.

At first I wasn't going to be able to attend, but after a crazy Friday morning, I decided to pull out a map and realized that the location was closer than I thought. I figured even if I stayed only 15 minutes, good chance to blow off some steam. Was pleasantly surprised we outnumbered them.
No reports in the Houston Commie yet. Some media was there, so something may turn up yet.
