A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largess from the public treasury.

It is "GenXers" who are the boogey-man if they see themselves as some kind of groups who is owed some kind of entitlements...
It is "GenYers" who are the boogey-man if they see themselves as some kind of groups who is owed some kind of entitlements...
It is "Republicans" who are the boogey-man if they see themselves as some kind of groups who is owed some kind of entitlements...
And on and on. This statement fits anyone who expects entitlements. I don't understand why you want to insist that it is the "boomers" fault?
Where are over 50+% of the voters. I wish there was a bigger constiutency for smaller government but there is not. So we need to take baby steps, bring the people along. If there was one smart thing about Clinton it was incrementalism. Or Else we waste our votes on Ross Perot (or someone like him) again.
Nearly everything our current intrusive, unlimited government does today is Constitutional and this was the intent of many of the Founding Lawyers, especially Hamilton.
Either the Constitution was powerless to prevent the sort of unlimited government we suffer from today or it was designed specifically to permit it.
Which is it then?
True, but like the kid said earlier in the post, "the next 20-30 years ought to be interesting."
It's a false argument to claim an entire group of people, whose only common linkage is their birth years (and even those dates we can't all agree on), all got together en masse and decided "Hey, let's go screw over everyone born after us and steal their money!" (Like nobody that was 75 years old in the 1960s or 1970s ever voted for a liberal entitlement program. Like every person that was 25 years old in 1995 all voted against any liberal entitlement programs. Bullpuckey.)
To claim that everything that happened between X date and Y date is the fault of whatever age group happened to be getting the most media attention at that time is utterly ludicrous.
You prefer the Constitution Party over the LP? Well that is the kind of person we need. We can take over the Republican party. Heck, we are young.
Regulating what the citizenry ingests.
Providing for health care.
Providing a retirement package (ponzi scheme) for the citizenry.
Providing 'public' education for the citzenry.
The Republicans aren't taking baby steps towards limited government but rather giant leaps towards Big Government.
A little patience goes a long way, but too much goes absolutely nowhere.
Only a massive financial/social/political/military crisis will alter the current trend.
Hey, dude, stick with it, I say. There's nothing sweeter than blind loyalty to a politician. Besides, the guy can do no wrong in my book.
Hey, I remember when I was your age. We used to sit around smoking dope and we'd talk about how cool it was gonna be when we took over. But we never dreamed it would be this good. All the drugs we want and it's gonna be free, man. 'Cause the government's gonna pay. Hey, dude, don't bogart that joint, ok?
As I was sayin'. Oh, hey, did I mention about the federally mandated cost of living increases? Man, it's so cool, 'cause we already have all the money. Dude, we already own the real estate, the stocks, the bonds, the capital infrastructure. And we got all them dimwit liberals thinking old people are poor and eatin' dog food. Like, can this get any better? Wake me up, dude, I must be dreaming.
Hey, can I borrow some money, dude? I just found a nice home overlooking the golf course down in Myrtle Beach. Oh, never mind. You already paid for without even knowing it.
Hey, check out that latest reality show on TV. Now that's entertainment.
I don't understand this statement at all.
Welfare and wealth re-distribution is "Constitutional"?
The War for American Independence was fought over a 3% tax, don't think I won't take up arms (if it came to that) against a bunch of old geezers if that means the difference between be being able to provide a good standard of living for my family or NOT providing a good standard of living.
General Welfare Clause, neccesary and proper clause.
This parchment worship is getting us nowhere.
Face it, the damn thing doesn't work.
Sacred Cows make the best hamburgers.
See #69.
I need to invest in mortuaries.
Don't worry about that. If there is such a conflict, the "old geezers" will have some dumb young shits to come shoot your ass. You won't see a single old geezer to place in your sights.
Friend, don't you see. This is not a generational war. It's a culture war.
True blue, conservative, limited government, Constitutional loving Americans of all ages and colors, against socialists, elitists, and authoritarian Americans of all ages and colors.
