(BARDSTOWN, Ky., August 4th, 2003, 4:30 pm) -- The massive wooden structure was ablaze and firefighters were focused on three nearby warehouses, said Bardstown City Administrator Larry Green.
"Only one of them is on fire and they're working to make sure that it stays that way and to contain the burning whisky that's coming out of that warehouse," Green said

I just got home from work and heard the troubling news.
I immediatedly put down my Miller High Life and checked the booze pantry for the hard stuff. Hmmmmm. A 3/4 full 10 year aged Jim Beam Commerative Remington ceramic flask left over from our wedding -25- years ago. OK....three ice cubes, two ounces of the Beam, down the hatch and blech!
Am I getting old? I pulled out the Jack Daniels Black Label Old #7 Tennessee Sour Mash Whiskey and Aaaaahhhhh! That's more like it!
J.D. beats Beam in this informal, online, realtime taste test!
Actually up here in the Upper Midwest, the Germanic influence is strong and one is more likely to encounter a Jaegermeister (Hunt Master) and a beer than all that whisky stuff.
I do admit that, once in awhile, a Jack Daniels Old #7 is definately able to make the rubber meet the road.
My other favorite, is the best legacy of the Cold War. A very dry Stoli martini with a giant suffed Jalepeno' olive.
I do respect the anguish of the Jim Beam fans out there.
We share your pain.....

I was going to say: "The humanity! The humanity!" until I linked and saw that it was that rotgut; I misread the title as Jack Daniels - subliminal, I guess.

JD vs. Beam.
There really is no comparison IMHO.

Are you sure you don't mean Richard Pryor?

Perfectly scientific; similar to a homemade Saybolt viscosity test using pantyhose.

Doesn't matter if it burns or not, it's in barrels, which WILL burn. And the Jack D. inside will spill. :-(

A 7 story Warehouse of Bourbon on fire---That has to be worst thing I've heard all day. There seems something very wrong about that being allowed to occur. But at least it wasn't the Wild Turkey Bourbon factory, that would've given me some serious pains in my stomach.

Ugh. I said "Jack D." My bad. I have been working too much lately. And apparently not drinking enough. Ignore me.

Alcohol is 90% water, it won't burn! Whiskey is 80 proof or so, maybe more in some cases. Percentage is roughly 1/2 of proof. Maximum proof is 200, which is 100% alcohol. So this whiskey is mostly 40% alcohol, which is enough to burn.
It's more like 160 proof while it's in the wood barrels. They cut it with water during bottling. Went through the tour at the Jack Daniels Distillery. Ah, that smell. Oh and, no smoking please. :)

Yikes, there is an image of Flip Wilson in that fire.Don't touch my Jim Beam. You don't know me that well!
To: RightWhale
Wild Turkey is produced by a french company. We're boycotting it doncha' know?
To: snopercod
But, but.. can't we just toss it into a fire for effect?
Just for the fun of burning it instead for therapuetic reasons as in revenge for the Jim Beam burning?
Just take it out on the WT?
