August 4, 2003 -- The woman accusing Kobe Bryant of rape tearfully told a bellhop minutes after the alleged attack that that she had just been "forced to have sex" with the NBA superstar, according to a new report. Friends and co-workers of the accuser told Fox News correspondent Rita Cosby that the 19-year- old hotel worker's clothing was torn when she spoke with the bellhop.

I agree 100 percent; although in this case, we haven't heard much from Kobe's side, IMO. The ones doing the talking about HER were her "friends."

I can't remember when this all started -- this rush to print any and all "facts," aka DIRT, in cases like this; it was before we became familiar with the term "person of suspect," IMO.

For some reason the press thinks they NEED to have ALL the details before the first legal document is filed; Before long, no trial will be held in the county/city where it occurs.

That being said, I'm right in here with the rest of them, reading everything I can find on it. :-)

This girl (accusor), if she hangs in, which is doubtful, has more moxie to me, than anyone in recent memory. They will chew her to pieces. Case in point...Paula Jones and those that followed her..and Wm. Kennedy Smith's accusor ! It is not going to be pretty. I would love to know the council she is getting. I have the feeling she will settle, or confess she made it up.

I don't know. I think this whole "courage" bit is being played up a bit too much. Yes, Paula Jones was trashed, but that was a concerted effort by a national political party. Kennedy-Smith's accuser? We don't even remember her name, so she's pretty much unharmed.

The alleged victim in this case will have the opportunity to move on, essentially anonymously, when this is over. She'll still be famous in Eagle County, I suppose, but there will be 300 million other people in this country that either won't know who she is or won't care.

How will they chew her to pieces? On the stand? It really is just a matter of sticks-and-stones, after all. She'll be called an unstable slut. Big surprise. If her family and the prosecution have any sense, they'll prepare her for that unseemly event, and she'll waltz through.

I feel sorry for Kobie, imagine the first time you are unfaithful to your wife of only two years whom you adore to the tune of $8,000,000 that this happens. The first and only time. You have to feel sorry for this poor guy. No wonder he was crying, I would cry too, that was a really big ring.

Surely you jest.

This will be a very different jury. The race card may not play well in Colorado.

Well over two weeks ago I made a list of the evidence against Kobe. You would not believe the grief I got. It seems a lot of the items on my list turned out to be true after all. Still waiting for the other shoes to drop.

List
1. Hotel employees witness her behavior immediately following the event.

2. She had torn clothes (I further predicted that there would be a button that was torn from her clothing in the room, we shall see).

3. Her physical abuse was visible.

4. A witness heard a commonition in the room (this has yet to be proved).

5. Proof of forcible rape was returned from the crime lab.

6. She has taken a lie detector test and passed (this has yet to be proved).

Why do you keep listing things that have NOT been proved?

Transcripts not up yet, but Fox story says sources told investigators.....so I think the Rita story should be sources told her that the bellhop said, etc. Besides the fact that if, as Rita claims, sources say the bellhop will be a key witness, he just violated the gag order if he related all of this to her.

I only half heard something Drudge claimed on his show last night. It involved a video camera having captured something regarding Bryant on the hotel's premises. I didn't catch what the tape was about, but Drudge said that Bryant's attorneys were apoplectic and scrambling. Haven't seen or heard anything else about this, though.

Because almost everything I said previously is coming true. Just give the rest some more time, you'll see. };O)

Aren't you one of the ones decrying the supposed trashing of the accuser?

Yes, I am. But now we are talking about something germane to the case, not who she slept with six months ago or what she may or may not have said at a party days/weeks after the event. There's a difference between gossip and relevant facts.

BTW, if I were a judge, I wouldn't allow the "forced sex with Kobe Bryant" comment to be said in front of the jury (it's hearsay and it's prejudicial - it concludes guilt or innocense in its very utterance when the bellhop was not there to conclude if the statement was true or false). What's relevant is not what she said to the bellhop but what the bellhop can verify in terms of the state of the accused right after she left his room - the condition of her clothes, her emotional state, etc.

Bryant doesn't deny he had sex with her and it will be the physical evidence that will be critical in determining whether it was forced. What the bellhop does is narrow the timeline to refute claims that the woman faked her injuries or made up her story within the 12 hours between the event and going to the police.

It still doesn't prove the case but, if it stands, it eliminates some alternate theories the defense might otherwise use to claim that she "made it up" after the fact.

As for Rita naming the bellhop, don't you think most of these reporters already know the identities of every hotel staff working that night and have been trying to dig up information from them? These folks still have jobs and have to show up at the hotel so it would be pretty easy to find them, follow them and start peppering them with questions. Perhaps reporters have become much more lazy than in my day (sometimes it sure seems so) but I can't imagine a resourceful reporter not being able to find this out if they can get somebody to talk.

"My sources tell me...."

One would THINK that someone at Fox would pull her aside and tell her that she sounds like a flaming horse's ass when she says that OVER AND OVER AND OVER. Get over yourself Rita. After that butchered report the nite of the Bush v. Gore decision, you'd think she'd wouldn't have such a high opinion of herself.

Yes, presuming he did it. He hasn't been convicted yet.

We, as a people, are so very fond of the courtroom, aren't we? A failure to convict does not mean that "R" bryant is innocent; it merely means that for whatever reason(s), the jury reported that the prosecution had failed to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the elements of the applicable statute(s) had been violated.

So far as I am concerned, I'm convinced he raped the girl. My convictions need not be controlled by accepted courtroom procedure. Your mileage may vary.

And I keep thinking about what the female juror said after the jury she was on set OJ free. "All they had was a bloody glove and DNA evidence."

And I recall another OJ juror said: "What be so special 'bout DNA? Eberybody gots DNA. So what?"

Bingo. And that was sure a hell of a lot more important that Kobe Bryant!

I hope the people of the state of Texas remember your feelings when you're arrested for something -- ANYTHING.

I did not hear her name the bellhop. It is reasonable to assume the reporters, the DAs staff and the defense ALL have lists of every person that is involved (actually or potentially).

I read a couple of days ago that the defendant's team has Private Investigators, no doubt searching for anything they can find, which could prove useful to their case.

Be certain the defense will have developed a negative slant, for any witness which is favorable to the prosecution's case.

I don't buy it. If someone comes to me and says they've been raped I call the cops or at the least tell my manager, I don't drive them home.

You seem to be creating a grievous error here: you are applying sound logic to new, shocking, we-report-you-decide "facts in this case."
