There is a "very real potential" that the al-Qaida terrorism network could again strike the United States, Attorney General John Ashcroft said Sunday.
"Al-Qaida is still bent on injuring the United States," he said. Ashcroft later said that he believes Osama bin Laden's organization wants "to strike us whenever and wherever they can."

Ashcroft cited examples of a couple changes, but I can't remember them at the moment. The gist of both was increased federal powers.
To be applauded by many FReepers I'm sure.
You're right about the drastic measures, we must cause them the primitives police themselves. All of the conventional military victories in the world won't solve the problem of the millions of children they're raising to hate and destroy the West.
Suicide bomber's families need to be gone after and the threat of the end of Islam needs to be on the table. Yes, we could end Islam right now if we had the will or had a mindset similar to theirs.
I didn't get you at first, but you made a funny!
I'm like you, every time they start talking about "threats" I gotta wonder if they're real or if someone is pushing for some new empowering (anti-American) legislation.
However, nuking Mecca is not the answer. It would start a global war, and I am not convinced that we would win. Nor would I want to live in the resulting police state.
There exist other, more subtle, ways to convince the Arab nations to police themselves.
I disagree that we would not win global war with the Ishmaelites. We most certainly can and would win IMO. We can make them wish that their fraud-demon Mohammed never walked the earth if we should be so inclined.
What are you willing to risk to find out?
If it means having to give John "agree with me or you're aiding terrorists" Asscroft one more of his freedom grabbing, anti-American bills then I'm willing to risk being killed by terrorists.
Oh, no no no no no, AAA. See, if we try tracking him down here in the USA, we might um, accidently find out that YOU checked out a biography of Malcolm X in your local library...see, John Ashcroft wants to track every move you make and catalog it so he can blackmail you later.
In fact, you better stop reading Free Republic, 'cause someday the Internet Police will knock on your door and ask you why you read such material. <\sarcasm>
If our goobermint really wanted to keep us all safe , cars wouldn't go faster than the speed limit, our borders would be closed, all immigrants would have to prove they have worth and can "contribute" to our society versus suck the welfare teat dry.......ect ect ect.
Murderers would be tried, allowed to make two appeals and then be put to death. Criminals would be the manual labor force versus clients or guests at club fed adventure camps we currently call prison.
Our military would be allowed to seek , destroy and leave the nation building to the losers with the understanding that they attack America .....then they foot the bill for life and materials.
I have ideas but don't have the answers............just my opinion of course.
Stay Safe AAA !
Well, it does seem to be working well in Iraq.
Less subtle, yet non violent, ones as well. Like developing our own oil reserves instead of buying theirs. Without our money inflow, they fall apart overnight, IMO.
That's what the liberal naysayers said about our going into Afghanistan and Iraq. These jerks said, "let's all be nice so we don't piss off the Islamic (the religeon of peace) people" (that live for no other reason than killing people).
If there is another 9/11 type of attack on this country, I would sure-as-sh!t nuke Mecca. I'm fed up, sick and tired of the liberal Jane Fonda peacenik mentality in this country. Furthermore, I could give a damn what our allies (France/Germany) think.
The last people to do suicide attacks on Americans (and military forces at that) ended up with the rubble of two of their cities glowing in the dark.
I've got to ask for use of copyright on this one:
Heh. I'm going to be stealing that one and using it.
