[history]
The Vatican came out swinging against homosexual "marriage" yesterday, calling it "a legalization of evil" and saying Catholic politicians have a "moral duty" to oppose it.
The six-page document, "Considerations Regarding Proposals to Give Legal Recognition to Unions Between Homosexual Persons" was written by Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, which clarifies church doctrine.

I saw this on cbs news today.
Some of the Liberal Catholics dismiss the Pope's message based on "there's nothing in the Bible against homosexuals", etc, etc, etc

Good. But I'd rather they "came out swinging" against the Pedophile Priests. I no longer respect the Vatican, or the Pope for that matter. May God save the Church.

But I'd rather they "came out swinging" against the Pedophile Priests. Agree wholeheartedly. And I say that as a life-long Catholic.

The Pope's got a problem Johnny. No credibility.
I hate to say it but this Catholic calls them as he sees them. Pope JPII should retire now and before he does use his influence to find a conservative Franciscan Friar with fire in his belly and goodness in his soul to do worldwide what it looks like Bishop O'Malley is getting ready to do in the Archdiocese of Boston.

I totally agree with you. There's just no two ways about it.

Agree completely. But as I tell my Catholic wife and friends, the body of the Church is vulnerable to infection like any other other. This one is just particularly nasty. I view the homo/pedophile situation as such and it has infected the Church at the highest levels and not just the Catholic Church. It has made all of us aware as Christians our need to stand together and unite. It also helps us to understand the nature of the coming battle, as all of Christianity is under assault, from inside the Church by soddomites and outside of the Church by those who would see the light of Christ go out forever.

Thomas More Law Center Applauds Vaticans Opposition to Homosexual Marriages as Call To Arms
The Thomas More Law Center applauded the Vaticans opposition to the legal recognition of homosexual unions as a call to arms, issued to all persons committed to the common good of society. The Vatican document issued today, Considerations Regarding Proposals to Give Legal Recognition to Unions Between Homosexual Person stated that homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered and grave sins, and admonished Catholic law-makers of their moral duty to publicly oppose laws that favor legal recognition to homosexual unions.
The Vatican document also opposed exposing young people to erroneous ideas about sexuality and marriage that contribute to the spread of homosexuality.
Richard Thompson, Chief Counsel of the Thomas More Law Center, commented, The Vatican document issued today is most timely, and demonstrates the importance of the battles now being waged over the issue of homosexuality.
The Law Center has handled multiple lawsuits across the country aimed at defending traditional marriage, and is currently defending the right of a Michigan public high school student, Betsy Hansen, to speak out against homosexual conduct during her high schools diversity week program.
The Supreme Courts flawed decision in the Lawrence case created a public backlash wholly unexpected by the advocates of same-sex marriage. This public response has revealed that a majority of Americans are not in favor of trashing traditional marriage, said Thompson.
In recent weeks, homosexual activists have been working overtime, hoping to capitalize on the their recent Supreme Court victory in the Lawrence v. Texas case, which recognized a constitutional right to sodomy. Much to their dismay, the heightened interest in the homosexual issue has produced quite the opposite result. A USA Today/CNN/Gallup poll conducted July 25-27, reveals that acceptance of homosexuality is on the decline. In fact, only 48% percent of respondents believed that "homosexual relations between consenting adults should . . . be legal," compared with the poll taken earlier this year in which 60% responded in the affirmative.
The document, issued by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, reiterated the Churchs constant teaching on the meaning and purpose of traditional marriage, while underscoring the grave moral duty of Catholic politicians to publicly oppose and vote against proposals to recognize homosexual unions.
The Thomas More Law Center defends and promotes religious freedom, time-honored family values, and the sanctity of human life through education, litigation, and related activities. It does not charge for its services. It depends on contributions from individuals, corporations, and Foundations. It is recognized by the IRS as a section 501(c)(3) organization.
