New Play Toy!!! (Firearm)

New Play Toy!!! (Firearm)

Today I strolled into a local gunshop and much to my amazement I found a Steyr M40 (NIB) for $399.00. I’d always been interested in the Steyr ever since it came out specifically the smaller “s” series and more so the S357.

Well I just could not pass up such a good deal, I’ve seen this gun in shops down south, (GA, TN, SC) for as much as $519.00, so when I saw the $399.00 I had to have it.

Bought a pistol blanket for her, four boxes of Speer plinking ammo and some .40 cal cleaning supplies (bore brush, pads etc…) as this is my first 40.

Shot it already and WOW!!!

Accurate, once you get use to the “trapezoid” sites, trigger is short, very short and crisp, nice break around 5 pounds.

It is a very tight gun, first time I tried to apply the manual safety I couldn’t, took three or four tries now it moves just as the manual says it should, with two fingers.

I will most likely buy a tac-lite for this and a .357 barrel, and (pray) once the AWB goes away I’ll get me a few “normal capacity” mags for it (12 rounds) and then she’ll make a rather nice beside the bed gun.

It’s so nice to be able to buy a gun in a gun friendly state!

I promise you, if you want a .45 that will fit in your pocket...you ain't gonna wanna shoot it!

I have a couple of AMT Backups in .45 ACP.
They are te size and weight of a Walther PPK.
They are not the most enjoyable things to shoot, but not really painful or uncontrolable either.

If you get one, send it to Teddy Jacobson, "Actions by T" . He is the only one I know of who can slick the action/trigger pull up while keeping reliability on this little bomb.
He can do any weapon and seems to understand new designs instantly. Most gunsmiths do only a limited range of standard designs.

Nothing - no pistol, no SMG, no rifle, no automatic rifle - beats a semi-auto shotgun for lethality and versality in close combat.

You speak truth. I have great faith in my 9200A1.

A pump is more reliable in extended field use though.

I don't think even J.M.Browning could make a single action go full auto.

There was an article in one of my gun rags a few years ago that discussed the fact. A man had brought the SAA to a local gunsmith and said he cocked it, pulled the trigger and all 6 rounds fired before it quit.

Of course the BS flag went to full mast but it seems the firing pin bushing had not been staked in well and had fell out when the guy had last removed the cylinder for cleaning. What was "alledgedly " happening was that the firing pin would hit the primer the primers would blow back and the force was just enough to push the hammer back and turn the cylinder and fall on the next live round.

Thus it went kaboom till it fell on an already fired brass...............no shitter , real story !!

OK now .........wanna learn how to pick up a nickel with a fork lift ?:o)

Stay Safe !

My money is on Squantos!!!

He could take a bottle of shampoo, 2 qu-tips, a staple and three hairs braided into a fuse and rock yer world!

This is a scary man!

I once had a little Beretta Minx in .22 short go full auto for three shots. It was so fast it was really just one long blast. I had to count the number in the mag to be sure how many fired. The funny thing is it never did it again.

Must have even been faster than an MG42

Well, I would put one big honkin' wad of bubble gum under the end of one of the forks, adjust fork angle, and gently lower that big honkin' wad of bubble gum down on the nickle. As most warehouse floors are dusty, the gum would stick better to the nickle than the floor and (hopefully) when I raised the forks gum and nickle would come up.

Now, how do you do it?

Ever play tiddly wink ? Put the nickle on the concrete , drop your fork blade on top of it and drag the fork over it slowly backwards. As the weight of the fork passes over the nickle it will pop up on top of the fork. I have won more free lunches with that little trick.

Any one want to know how to get 100 Mpg from a Dodge 4x4 Diesel truck ?

The 100mpg deal is in the works as Snadia National Labs. They had a cummings there that was well into 125 mpg with 300 Horsepower and was on a dooooooge 4x4. I have to say I don't know "how" they are doing it but alledgedly it is part of a high mpg development contract they have from uncle sugar dough.

That one I would like to know myself !

Stay Safe !!
