[history]
Why is it that with the economy struggling and unemployment rising steadily, there has been little or no press coverage of the Chile-Singapore Trade Bill due to be voted on in the House and the Senate in the next few days? How many of your readers are aware that this bill contains provisions to bring in "guest workers" from the countries in question? This is supposed to be a trade bill, and is meant to benefit American workers, not send them to the unemployment line.

I'll make the call first thing tomorrow.
Two of my children lost jobs in the dot-com/high tech meltdown and bringing in foreign workers for any jobs enrages me.
GWB has forgotten the very people that voted him into office. He may have forgotten us but I sure won't forget him next year unless something is done, and done quickly, about the mess we are in.

How many of your readers are aware that this bill contains provisions to bring in "guest workers" from the countries in question? This news is no secret, it's been out there for quite a while if you look for it. A few Senators, including Lindsey Graham and Jeff Sessions have been fighting Bush on the immigration provisions, but so far to no avail.
If the "mainstream" press would cover it, then maybe enough pressure could be exerted that would force changes before it passes the Senate. But it doesn't look like that's going to happen, they're out to lunch.

Evil nasty Chile with all those nasty wines!!! They might put some French wineries out of business, causing layoffs. Alors!
