NEVER FORGET
...Here's a chance for you to help do something DIRECTLY for our Hero Soldiers fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan for our FREEDOM and future Safety in Time of War.
...The Quatar, Afghanistan Rest & Recooperation Center (R & R) is hosting 3rd Infantry Division, 10th Mountain Division, etc Soldiers from both Iraq and Afghanistan. Many arrive without a stich of civies (Civilian Clothes) in 120 degree weather. They need summer clothes i.e. T-Shirts (simple without political statements) that they can wear off base or around camp, shorts, swimsuits (No thongs or speedos, please) and more shorts. Everything needs to be in good taste so they can go on off base excursions without raising eybrows with the outside folks (Indigenous Personnel).
...The Quatar PX (Commissary Store) is small, sparsely stocked. CARE Packages are welcome with items like:
...Kool Aid, sunblock, BEEF Jerky, music; comics, the usual.
Mail Items to:
ARCENT-QA // ATTN: DOL // R & R Clothing Drive // APO AE Q9898 //
TOPICS: Activism/Chapters; Announcements; Breaking News
KEYWORDS: carepackages; heroes; quatarrr; randr; soldiers; supportourtroops; xafghanistan; xiraq

I wanted to thank you again for your immediate, generous efforts and kind words on behalf of the troops. This is a powerful weapon for defense of the homefront - grassroots at it's best.
For those who just arrived, the clothing drive continues until we fill the PX (less than a month - or until our very generous FR host says so, thank you Jim Robinson!). Freepmail me with any questions, or if you would like to help an 'experienced' Freeper defray the costs of putting together and shipping regular care packages.
Shorts are allowed on base, no problem, but long pants are best off base.
R&R resources are limited. Use your best judgement and think like a weary soldier who could use a good laugh, fun - reminders of home - words of support.
Thank you, Freepers!
Newcomers to FR, you can also 'Freepmail' me through my homepage (pro-Coalition news links) by clicking my Freepname and the mail link at the top of my homepage.

What a great idea for a bill! We can help them find the money - say, at the NEA. (^: Would you consider posting a separate thread and following the progress? We could help by contacting members of the gov. reform committee (what a big job, lol!).
One more correction today re. my post #127:
LAUNDRY FACILITIES ARE AVAILABLE at the Camp.
...but Saddam won't be anywhere nearby, having lost possession of his military HQ's in the palaces, orphanages and TV studios. Hunted by the US MILITARY and depending on 'friends' in very low places for protection - after 4 months and 12 days of living around US troops. Outstanding!

God bless you for doing what you've done. You're the guy with the biggest heart I've ever had the pleasure of meeting.
I'm going to do some more shopping today but I admit - I'm looking for a "partner" who might not want to do the shopping but might want to contribute. I love to do the shopping but when it comes to adding more things to the box or the USPS cost, I'm usually out of money. Ragtime Cowgirl gave me some suggestions - off to follow up on them.

If you or anyone else would like to make a contribution to the packages of goodies I've bought, I'd be happy to receive some help.
I will gladly list the items in the box, or even take a digital pic of it, if you give me an address to email it to, and a copy of the USPS receipt.
I've sent off 3 boxes of goodies, and the contents plus the postage are NOT cheap.
Filling these wish lists, while sending clothes should be lighter, should be lighter on the budget but I am on a tight budget and would appreciate any help any of you might want to give. However, I'd also like to add some magazines and puzzle books I've purchased, and any other items you'd specifically like to have included. I'll even be happy to put your name and address on or in the box, for them to correspond directly with you.
Thanks for any help you may be able to provide.
