Regardless of how bad a regime North Korea has, its demands of the United States are reasonable. They are four: one-on-one talks, a nonaggression treaty, economic aid and normal diplomatic relations.
The Bush administration's obstinate refusal to consider these could prove to be one of the deadliest blunders in the history of stupid diplomacy.

It only gets more stupid as it goes.

Charley Reese seems to divide his time equally between smoking crack and hating America.

its demands of the United States are reasonable. They are four: one-on-one talks, a nonaggression treaty, economic aid and normal diplomatic relations.Been there done that on the 1 on 1 talks, that's part of why we're where we are now. Economic aid? What, we owe them something now? That's out of character for a Buchanonite like Reese. "Normal" diplomatic relations with that little Stalinite? Is he serious?
The nonaggression treaty isn't as outlandish, but again, what good is a treaty with Kim Jong-Il?
I used to like Charley Reese's stuff years ago.

So it is reasonable to commit nuclear blackmail to get what they want?In Reese's febrile brain, why yes--and we should give North Korea a ton of money to boot.

Unnecessary excerpting is killing FR.I think we were done a favor on this one. That first paragraph was more than enough of this drivel.

No, no. Its the banning of people who don't know how to exercise self control thats killing FR. The news of FR's dying has been greatly exaggerated.

I've not found a libertarian or a paleo yet that wasn't eager to have America lick the boot of an aggressive and psychotic foreign potentate, while allowing it to expand and/or make insane threats. I have no idea where it comes from, save for the notion that we'll all be more theoretically noble if we're either poor or in some worldwide conflagration reached because of a slavish devotion to isolationism.

Frankly, after the first read, I couldn't take the thought of reading the whole thing a second time to put in the html. It was self preservation and the fact that I hate to vomit that caused this excerpting.

Also form the article:
A great and powerful nation does not lose face by acting in a conciliatory manner toward a small one.
Huh? That's practically a working definition of losing face. Especially when the "concilliatory manner" follows quickly on the heels of the small nation making demands upon the larger nation.
To: dubyaismypresident
doesn't even look sick to me.

Well, I guess everybody has to be someplace, so Charley has decided to be nowhere.
