But Conroe is not that close to Pasadena and NASA. I used to live in Kingwood. I miss some things about that area, but not the traffic. My daughter (who worked in downtown Houston before she married her Aggie EE) and I laugh about the 'traffic' here in NE TX!

I'm not from Texas, but can I suggest that when you mention the fact that the repubs didn't run away - how about adding the fact that the repubs NEVER RAN AWAY - EVEN WHEN THE DEMS WERE IN POWER.

The real question here is why aren't both sides doing the people's business instead of playing this good cop, bad cop game to distract us?

Basically most politicos are bad cops. This time the Chicken D's are downright criminals, and the Republiicans are good cops, albeit a bit keystone copish!

FYI. Not all of us UT Tea Sips support the DemoNAZIS. Some of us are open minded. It's a shamed we do have the recall, because I would be the first to sign the petition.

I even have a son who is in the TFAB. He wrote the following and sent it to all of the Dems, the 4 major papers in the state, etc. See below:

Comment: I am strongly opposed of how the Democrats are approaching the issue of redistricting. Thus, I have composed the following essay, trying to be as objective as possible without including opinions, aimed to urge the senators who have fled to New Mexico to return and face this issue of redistricting with honor. I have sent this letter to every senator, the Lt. Governor, Governor Rick Perry, and many news agencies. It is impossible to remove all opinions from a letter due to the nature of humans. I strongly ask you to consider the information of which, I as viewer and Texas citizen have composed to urge decisive and an honorable action for the Democrats.

To all Texas Senators Who Fled to New Mexico,

I am a college student at Texas A&M University and am currently taking a Texas State Political Science class. I voted in the last election and follow politics actively. I write to you and others in regards to your comments that Texans should voice their concerns and opinions about this special session. I am doing so because of an injustice I see being done to all Texans and a growing conservative trend among them. I urge you to return to Texas and fight the fight of redistricting in a respectable and honorable manner. I would like to briefly discuss effects that you and your fellow senators, of who have dishonorably fled the state of Texas, are doing to your fellow Texans.
You and your fellow senators who have fled the state are costing the state valuable tax dollars in which Texas can not afford. My tuition in the spring semester of 2004 will increase by $9 per credit hour because of state financial problems and budgetary cutbacks in all levels of education. I would like to remind you as a Texan that many can not afford the rising cost of tuition already, even your constituents. Each special session in which you flee from Texas is costing your fellow Texans millions of dollars in which this loss of money could be used to help offset the education for families all across Texas who can not afford an equal opportunity to attend college. As a student, I urge you to consider you consequences to students and their ability to afford college or all races and socioeconomic status.
The Republicans are redistricting just like the Democrats did two years ago when the Texas State Legislature was in the Democrats favor and the general beliefs in Texas as was for the past 150 years. They faced these challenges with more honor and respect than is currently being given. I remind you that they did not flee. I also remind you that conservatism is a growing belief in Texas as this point can be demonstrated in the last election when the legislature was moved into the favor of the Republicans. Thus, I urge you and your fellow Texas Senators of all parties unite together to represent this growing trend in Texas politics.
At Texas A&M University I am a member of the Corps of Cadets. I am reminded of the words of Governor Coke in 1876 in which he gave to the students, “To the students: Let your watchword be duty and know no other talisman of success than labor. Let honor be your guiding star in your dealings with your superiors, your fellows, with all. Be as true to a trust reposed as the needle to the pole, stand by the right even to the sacrifice of life itself, and learn that death is preferable to dishonor.” If you and your fellow senators in New Mexico wish to defeat this issue of redistricting with honor then you need and should return to Texas and allow your hard work and dedication pay off to overcome this agenda as Governor Coke suggests. You need to deal with this issue by being respectful to the ideas of all of your senators and face them with honor and an open mind in the Texas Senate Chamber.
Finally, all senators are seen as role models; a truth that no one in the public’s eye can deny. As a role model you must remember that small children, teenagers, and even adults see your actions. The act of fleeing from a problem is used too much today in hoping that a problem will solve itself in running from it when in actuality the problem still exists and may be even more amplified. For instance, many children are left fatherless or motherless when one of their parents decides that they can no longer face a problem. This however creates in the child’s mind that leaving and not facing a problem that they are having with others is acceptable. I am here to say that avoiding confrontation is not a precedent that public figures need to be showing to Texas and America. If our military forces were to use your same tactics to defeat an enemy attacking our country, our country would be a country of cowards ruled by a tyrant dictator like Saddam Hussein, Adolf Hitler, or Fidel Castro because they would just hide and hope the problem would solve itself.
Although I am not of your same party, I have tried to write as objectively as possible using facts, even though some opinion still exists of which is unavoidable due to human nature. I urge you and your fellow senators, who have fled across the state border to defeat the issue of redistricting, strongly consider the consequences of this easy way out. It is human nature to find the easy way out of many elements in life instead of facing them head to head and is the single greatest problem with all governments of the past, present, and future in the world. I give you one final plea to face this problem with honor, not as a Republican or Democrat, but as a Texan, in that you and your fellow senators who have fled the state return with open hearts and minds to face this important issue in a respectable manner.

A concerned Texas Citizen,

Scott

The idea of a boycott is to hurt the economics of those who support the Chicken D's. So I figured to hit the Chicken D's Districts merchants. Unfortunately, it would also hurt the Repubs in those Districts, however no pain, no gain.

As to why Mexican food is on the list, whether we like it or not, most Mexican Americans supported the Texas Democratic Party. Hence the boycott of Mexican food. Re a beating - Bring It on Sucker!
