Drunk man pussywhips fiancee in feline felony

Ludwigslust, Germany -

A man who whipped his fiancee with a cat faces prosecution under Germany's strict animal-rights laws, police said Monday.

In a drunken rage, the 43-year-old picked up the pet cat and repeatedly beat his fiancee with the feline until the animal was a bloody pulp.

It was unclear whether the 49-year-old woman would file charges of assault. She sustained cuts and bruises.

The cat did not survive and the man now faces prosecution under stiff animal-rights laws.

A year ago, Germany amended its constitution to protect the rights of all animals. Persons who unlawfully harm or kill animals are liable to steep fines and jail terms.

Another reason to register cats? When cats are outlawed, only outlaws will have cats

I mean if you can buy a cat for 10 bucks I dont think it equates to prison time.

I think penalties should reflect values, but I don't think that the market value of a cat is the value that I would focus on in setting a penalty for this particular kind of offense. I think that gratuitous cruelty to animals comes from the same dangerous defect of character that leads to gratuitous cruelty to other human beings. There's just something seriously (and dangerously) wrong with someone who has been unable to address that kind of problem on his/her own.

I'm not a cat person but anyone who mistreats an animal in that manner ought to be beaten senseless and left in stocks at the town square.

I absolutely agree.

I don't know about PETA, but you can count me as a supporter of laws forbidding cruelty to animals

Count me in too. But PETA is so extreme that their antics create a backlash among people who would otherwise support reasonable protections for animals, and thereby do more harm than good.

IMO anyone who deliberately inflicts unnecessary suffering on a dumb animal should be punished, if only for the benefit of humans. People who have become inured to the suffering of animals are also more likely to be indifferent to the suffering of humans, and are more likely to cause that suffering. But even if that were not true I would still support laws against cruelty to animals. I guess I just have a soft spot for innocent little critters, and all animals are innocents. They have no concept of good or evil, they just do what their instincts tell them to do.

Alright you Monty Python computer nerds...send in those clips of cats being whipped against walls and such.

No video, but I just spent four hours burying the cat.
He wasn't dead, but he was coughing up blood.....

Reminds me of a soccer hooligan skit that Mike Myers did on SNL....."Ran into a German fan walking his schnauser.....So I picked the mutt up and beat that Kraut B*stard with it! Aye, you'd be surprised at the damage you can do with a small dog."

Guess you had to be there. :-)

SHAME, SHAME, SHAME on this so-called "Man"

He's more of a coward, NOT a real man for sure

Why don't he pick on someone his size

First he assaulted a woman, and using a little defendless kitty

Well, I suppose his only defense, "the alcohol made me do it"

Really great post, epow. I agree entirely, including your comments about PETA's sometimes excessive and counter-productive antics and the resulting backlash that naturally results. Of course, that phenomenon is true of the effect of extremists in any social movement.

Hey, at least as far as we know he's only responsible for the death of this one cat.

A cephalon 8" skillet has good balance and the handle dampens the recoil.

First you are required to register your cat.

Then you are required to buy a license to own your cat.

Then one morning you wake up and find that private ownership and possession of cats has been outlawed.

That is always how it goes down.

So, I guess the Germans are more concerned over the cat than the woman? How he killed the cat was undoubtedly cruel, but it seems the German authorities are more worried about it than the fiancee!
It was unclear whether the 49-year-old woman would file charges of assault

Are you being flippant or dim? If the woman fails to press charges, what do you want them to do? At least the cat won't go on the stand and say, "I fell."
