I can thank Bob and Dolores Hope for bringing me out of the depression after my husband's death.

In a book by Fr. Jack Scott entitled Without Thorns It's Not a Rose the suffering of Bob and Dolores Hope is brought out in one chapter. How he gave so freely of his time during the holidays for our troops, and yet how this caused him to be away from his family on those special days thus causing suffering.

It was wonderful to read, and I will always recommend the book to anyone who is recovering from a death, divorce or separation of spouse, child or parent.

He was very funny and much better than what passes for comedic talent these day.

Rest in peace Mr. Hope

I never had a chance to see Mr. Hope but he has been a hero of mine
for many decades for his work with the USO.
May God Welcome Bob Hope Home and comfort his family and friends.

"Bob Hope", these two words together are all you have to say about the man.  They tell a story to each of us, unique to our own experience.  No matter your station in life, Bob Hope made your journey through it a little better.  If the world should last so long, one thousand years from now people will still laugh at Bob's quips.  These two words have become an instant cause for a twinkling in the eyes and a smile on the lips.  Some have mused that Bob is now in heaven.  I'm not so sure.  In the battle of good vs evil, I imagine Bob is still on the front lines bringing humor to those who serve on planet earth.  Who could be sad upon hearing about a promotion like this?  My thoughts are with the Hope family today, but not ones of sorrow.  Bob lived a full and productive life.  They have much to be proud of.

I would like to think he and Bing are playing golf right now. With Bing joking that he had to pay big bucks for the green fees while he was waiting for Bob.

God Bless Bob Hope. An American treasuer. Thanks for the memories, Bob.

Bob Hope should be remembered especially for two things:

He was the greatest all-around entertainer of the 20th century. Hope could do it all--stage, screen, radio, television, sing, dance, you name it. And his comic timing and delivery were unsurpassed.

Up until his death, Bob Hope was one of the two greatest living Americans (Ronald Reagan being the other). What a patriot! What untiring service to his country!

My all time favorite, and probably America's best loved entertainer.
He was in a class that none of today's jerks from Hollywood
can ever come close to matching.

In 1983 I was deployed in the East Med aboard the USS Independence. Our late December port call to Haifa, Israel that year holds two special memories for me - visiting Bethlehem on Christmas Eve, and seeing Bob Hope's show on the Indy's hangar deck on Christmas Day.

Thanks for the memories, Mr. Hope.
