Puerto Rico was quoted as saying, "We just want your money -- nothing else."

I love it when liberals actually get to see and deal with the results of their policies.
Now, as far as I'm concerned, cut Puerto Rico loose. It can make it on its own.

Be careful of what you wish for you may get it. The libs are never happy even when they get their way. When the Navy pulls out they think the Navy is extracting revenge. Why should the Navy stay around. This Island is of no use to them.

If they were only keeping the base open for firing exercises, and the Puerto Ricans wanted it to end, why do they think we'd keep the base open then?
Hell, there's tons of states that would love that business.
They don't want statehood and they don't want to help us prepare for defense. That's fine. They'll just have to live like Cuba and the Dominican Republic. God bless 'em.

I love the way that they think that the land should be given to them if we pull out. Why the heck would we want to donate real estate to these people. Mega Duhhhhh alert.

I want that base closed and all our troops out of there as soon as possible. The only ones who should be stationed there are the guards that will keep trespassers off our land for the duration. That land should never be returned. We bought it, it's ours, and it should stay ours. We should use it to store excess "stuff".

You're loyal to your employer, this case being the U.S. Navy, and what do you get in return?
Somebody hasn't been reading the papers. There are lots of places that are willing to accept the military and NOT tear down the gates and otherwise make asses of themselves. Sorry, NO SOUP FOR YOU!

reward them with an asset that's worth $1.7 billion for kicking us off that range that has cost American lives. That's just not going to happen," Inhofe said. I have respect for WWII vet, Senator Inhofe, for his loss and sacrifice during the war. But where in the name of sweet Fannie Adams did he get that 1.7 billion number from? It's 8000 acres, and unless my calculator is wrong, that works out to be 2.125 Million per acre. Even with improvements, $48 sq/ft is pretty pricey for land that's been blown up more than Wiley E. Coyote, Esq.

No no! I see no overreaction here at all. Next maybe, we could get the heck out of Germany? Move to Poland?
