For a few minutes, let's put aside the question of Kobe Bryant's guilt or innocence on sexual assault charges and concentrate on the adultery to which he confessed on July 18.

Adultery is a major cause of the disintegration of the family, and all of the noise about Bryant, a Newport Coast resident, can be boiled down to one perfect comment by a basketball fan who was quoted in the Daily Pilot: "He's an idiot."

I really dislike this so-called Christian response of "don't judge." I am not the judge. God is. I am merely discussing the issue and posted a comment by the author of the article. Posting comments is now "judging?" You should stay away from threads which have any opinion so you don't get sucked into "judgement." Sheesh!

You don't think we would've heard about SOME of them by now? I think so.

I believe only the married person is guilty of adultery. I'm talking Black's Law definitions here but don't have my book home.

p.s. adultery includes intercourse without being married so if the "alleged victim" is lying about rape she commited adultery too

Lol, I think that's the least of their worries right now.

Using the timeline: "Hey honey. At least I called and said I loved you before I hopped in the sack with her. That's gotta count for something". That phone call reads like a "Do Not Disturb" sign.

While I try to avoid Kobe coverage, I just heard on Foxnews that he checked into that hotel between 10:30 and 10:45pm and the hotel employee in question was home by midnight. Hardly time to say hello! Brings new mianing to the expression "one night stand".

I thought a hunt meant that you actually had to go out and look for something. It's more like a room service buffet.

What you described is fornication, not adultery.

Conventional wisdom also says that if there has been a history of this, some tabloid would have reported it already.

I just saw a show on HBO this morning about Marvelous Marvin Hagler and his rivalry with Sugar Ray Leonard. After his (disputed) fight with Leonard, Marvin walked away from the sport, an 8 figure bout that was already planned and moved his family to Italy. If you're a boxing fan, make sure you see this show.

Naturally. But even if it was only adultery, Kobe would still be way more culpable than the girl, because the girl had made no vows to Kobe's wife, and owed her nothing in terms of loyalty or honesty.

Right. Very good catch. Hagler is another great example of a pro athlete for whom fame and money meant nothing.

You don't think we would've heard about SOME of them by now? I think so.

Not necessarily.

Let me be clear: There is no evidence that this was a pattern. This may have been his first foray into cheating on his wife, if it was not rape.

But IF any other women are presented at trial it will be important to listen to when they came to the DA's attention. I can imagine some trial watchers saying that their appearance at trial is the first they're coming forward, when it may be the first visit with investigators is happening now and perhaps keeping their mouths shut. It happens.

Look at who is leaking. The DA certainly is not, and the defense would not want anything like this made known. The women---if there were any---would be told to keep away from the media.

Again, I am not saying there are other women. It appears there is no history. I'm merely arguing it cannot be stated with certainty that "we would know by now" if there were.

"You don't think we would've heard about SOME of them by now?"

Not really. They could be playing the waiting game to see how this pans out, one way or the other.

If Kobe isn't being truthful about "this was the only time," and it looks like charges will be dropped, then they may come forward. Time will tell. (Remember, x42 had more accusers that came forward.)

I saw it before, and ranted and raved around the house for days. The special reminded me of what a sham boxing had become. I didn't watch another fight for years, with the sole exception of the first Tyson/Holyfield fight

Maybe he didn't want fame per se, but I think Hagler wanted to be recognized as the best. He felt he had been cheated, and washed his hands of the whole sordid mess.

I do not understand why anyone's interested in what he did or why he did it.
