[history]
Gregory Johnson's friends and a cousin think they know why someone shot the 17-year-old boy and his 18-year-old friend, and then left their bodies to burn beyond recognition inside a blazing SUV.
Rage.
Johnson, they say, was a sweet and funny young man who liked to dress as a woman, fooling his dates. They suspect one of them became enraged upon learning the truth and killed Johnson and his female friend.

If I were ever to go on a date and found out the guy I was with was some butch bulldyke impersonating a man, yeah, I think I'd be capable of killing someone...It'd depend on how far along it went as to whether she got her eyes scratched out or died for it. And if I were on your jury, I would unhesitatingly vote for your conviction. What the kid is reported to have done is stupid, juvenile and offensive, but it doesn't justify murder.

I used to work with a guy who had this happen to him in Germany when he was in the army. He spend some time in the brig for beating the guy with a shovel (though not a fatal assault)
He told us that after that, whenever he met a good looking woman in a bar he would "check her" first.
He actually told this story to a bunch of us in the lunchroom one day. I couldn't believe he was "sharing" this story. It reminded me of the scene in the movie Stripes where all the guys were sharing their stories and Bill Murray explained about wearing "unusual underwear"

Ed the Pathguy's rules for not getting murdered: 1. Don't bully anyone, physically or verbally. 2. Don't ridicule anyone. (This is a really important survival tip.) 3. Don't try to take another person's wife or girlfriend. 4. Don't crowd or speak rudely to a person who is obviously upset, even if he or she is threatening you or someone else. 5. When a relationship breaks up, be tactful and kind to the person to whom you were important. 6. Don't deal drugs. 7. Don't do sexual things for money or drugs. 8. Men: Don't carry a weapon. (This applies in the vast majority of circumstances. There are exceptions.) 9. Women: Don't be a sexual tease. 10. Gay men: Don't do sexual things with men you don't know well, or with jealous (i.e., nutty, insecure) men. Don't ask out men you don't know well. (Homicides: AJFMP 17: 350, 1997).

And I am supposed to feel sorry for these two?
How?
I think things reached their natural conclusion here.. Did they really expect anything less?

but it doesn't justify murder. Neither does putting on a Klan outfit and walking around South Central LA, but you can't expect people to not think that you were asking for it.

What an awesome site, and a fine man of a lecturer and extremely interesting lecturer, if his notes tell that tale!
Ed the PathGuy! As in patholgist.
Thanks for that info, threepwood.

Oh, it's still a sin.. No question. God says he will judge, period and even expects us to follow Corinthians 1, 13: 1-13 when faced with such things. But humans are evil, flawed, emotional creatures.
Thus, it's not surprising to me in the least. It honestly shouldn't bee surprising to them either.
Just like leaving the keys in your new corvette and a million other things.. A little common sense and foresight should tell you that this is not a good idea, and what the natural outcome will likely be.
In a perfect world? Sure, you could leave the keys in your vette. In LA? You better not push your luck.

Isn't that the same Ed the pathguy who posted on the medical forum of the old Compuserve BBS?

Gotta imagine sooner or later one of their "dates" is gonna freak when they have that "Crying Game" moment.
I have no sympathy for him.
To: SarahW
I don't know. But I do remember connecting to Compuserve and other BBSes at 1200 baud -- even at 300 baud sometimes.

I agree with you !!
I've often said "90% of what's wrong with kids today, is parents."
I can't believe parents could sit and watch their 17 year old "son" leave for a date, dressed as a woman. At least, I hope not.

"Killing an abomination is not murder, at least according to the Hebrew bible."That would be the Torah, not the "Hebrew Bible", which also happens to be our Old Testament.

Exodus 20:13 Thou shalt not kill. Making murder a crime or sin isn't going to stop people from murdering. Sex with strangers is never a safe thing but dressing up as a woman when you're a man to fool your dates makes it even less safe.

Dopey schmuck didn't realize just what a dangerous game he was playing. He probably grew up believing that actions don't have consequences. Either that, or it was suicide by date. Likely a little of both. I wonder if the parents were permissive liberals who left it up to their kids to define their own morality. Oh what a shock that would be.
To: FITZ; Jhoffa_
Murder is not only a sin, it's a class one felony, and in many cases it carries the death penalty.
What that young man did was stupid, but we have all done stupid things.
I will venture to say that whoever murdered those two, committed not only the most egregious sin of the two, but also the most intolerable crime.
