[history]
A study of the earliest federal judicial nominees reveals that they were expected to be of the highest character, display sober temperament, experience no incidents of moral turpitude, and profess a belief in God and the Bible. A federal judge's public display of faith was considered to be a mark of the highest ethical standards and an indication of fairness and concern for all who would seek justice in the courts.

"According to my sources in the Senate, Republican female senators have voiced strong reservations over the nomination of Leon Holmes, President Bush's federal judicial nominee to the eastern district of Arkansas."
If this be true, these women need to be brought in line quickly. (And, no, this is no joke). There is no way republicans, any republican, stand in the way of the judicial nominations, not without paying the ultimate political price.

I read this article last night and I was thinking that this should be spread all over the media by whatever means it takes. We need to get this message out to the public, the DNC are anti-Christianity.
Religion is anathema to socialism. People who answer to a higher power than the state are not easily controlled. The religion of peace is an exception because in most cases the gov't and the religion are one.

The Democrats are violating both the letter and the spirit of the Constitution.
"No religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States."
U.S. Constitution, Article 6, Section 3.

This GOP line of response worked well during the Ashcroft AG appointment and review process. I think it's what turned the tide in the end. Enough Democrats just did not want to appear to be rejecting Ashcroft because he was an evangelical Christian and personally adhered to the tenets of the faith.

Beautifully put. And wasn't it Marx who said that "religion" is the opiate of the masses?" Oh contraire mon-fraire (sp). If anything, socialism is the opiate of the masses. There isn't a more diabolical "religion" that creates mass dependence on someone or something.

Not to mention the 1st Amendment, the 14th Amendment and the 1964 Civil Rights Act. The law is very clear in this regard and yet Demoncrats have made "religion" a litmus test for the courts. Gee...and not a peep from the ACLU and other civil rights groups about this descrimination. Of course not, their leading the charge.

Ann Coulter mentions in her book that Whitacker Chambers stated that communism was going to win over democracy if the US did not become more spiritually involved in the battle, that communists were deep believers in their philosophy and the US public were simply complacent participants in democracy. (very roughly paraphrased) She goes on to state that Ronald Reagan took this to heart and decided that a religious and patriotic revival, a return to the country's roots was needed. This is when he changed parties and started plans to run for president.

What seems to have escaped the skittish senators is that, as constitutionalists and strict constructionists they recognize that their role as federal judges is to apply the Constitution and the law as they find it. I do not believe that the Dems are going after these people simply because of their religous beliefs. It is because of their strict constitutionlist attitudes combined with their religious beliefs.
They still fear a man of strong principles may emerge to prevent their stealing of the Constituion. A man like this one:
Robert Bork
