Boca Raton · Less than a week after filing to become a U.S. Senate candidate, Johnnie Byrd spent Thursday campaigning in the home county of rival Mark Foley.
And some supporters of Foley, a Republican congressman from Palm Beach Gardens, came away impressed with Byrd, the speaker of the Florida House.
Peter Feaman, the Boca Raton Republican Club president whose group was host to Byrd as a luncheon speaker, said the candidate's performance was so good that he would almost certainly pick up some support.
"I'm not saying I'm abandoning Foley, but [Byrd] needs to be considered," Feaman said. "Before today, Foley in this area was the front-runner. With [Byrd's] presentation here today, I know people are going to look into him."

I was at four of yesterday's events for Speaker Byrd. He wowed local Republicans with his integrity, charisma and soft spoken wisdom. Speaker Byrd is a winner!

And look, Byrd gets positive comments from people who didn't sign up just today and may not even be working on his campaign! (unlike Foley on both counts.)
I think Byrd, Weldon, or Webster would be good.

The more candidates, the more certainty of a Foley nomination, that's for sure.

Is there some other way to decide a primary that the rest of us have missed?

Boca is a liberal hellhole. I went to High School there and my parents still live there.
