Nice review of "Seabiscuit" here. I'll post a link , there are some good pictures from the movie too. I've been waiting a year to see this.
I've read a few other reviews and there seems to be under lying attempt from the liberal-type critics to not like this movie, but they can't get away with saying it's not good. It's seems they don't like that it isn't a "Hate America" film.
I'm betting its good. The review posted here is a nice one- no liberal "spin" in it. The guy liked the movie. Jay Leno-Tonight Show liked it said it would be Movie of The Year. The Two Thumbs Up guys gave it two thumbs up and said take your kids to see it. I'll put up a review when I get back from checking it out tommorow night. Here's hoping it's good. Been waiting a long time for this to be released.

Thanks Drago for posting the link. I don't know why I couldn't get it to work. I just ran out of patience.

I will not pay to see
Seabiscuit for one simple reason: It is written and directed by Gary Ross, a former Clinton speechwriter who also wrote and directed
Pleasantville, the motion picture that implied that life in the 50's would have been better with more teen sex and more adultery and housewives who knew how to give themselves an orgasm.
The thread I authored about Pleasantville back in 1998 has been deleted (much to my surprise), but here is a review of the flick from columnist Don Feder which pretty much sums it up.
Here's the first paragraph:
WHILE MOST OF WHAT HOLLYWOOD Inflicts on us can be charitably characterized by a "d" word (disgusting, depressing or dumb), it isn't often that a movie like "Pleasantville" comes along that's pure evil.

Steven Greydanus at Decentfilms.com said the same thing about "Pleasantville" - poison. I'll wait to see what he says about "Seabiscuit."

Yeah, heaven forbid you should form your own judgment based on your own experience!

Why should I waste money seeing a film if a reviewer whose tastes are similar to mine hated it? Frankly, I'm more likely to check out the book from the library!

I have not looked forward to a movie for a long time. But I am looking forward to this one. I love Jeff Bridges for one thing, a great actor who has never won an Oscar and deserves one for his body of work. So many good actors in this one, and an inspiring Americam story. I'm ready.

Box Office Mojo's review is not so positive and they point out the democrap propaganda inserted into the film.
SEABISCUIT / C
"McCullough's narrative repeatedly rings false. After a touching scene in which jockey Pollard is fed a bowl of soup by Bridges's self-made businessman, McCullough prattles on about the glory of FDR's social programs, his voiceover accompanied by black and white photos of men at soup kitchens."
http://www.boxofficemojo.com/review/movies/?id=seabiscuit.htm I may wait for video to see this film.

Other than a five second showing of a picture of FDR and a voice over that "someone" cares, no politics in the movie. While it struck me, I doubt that most would find it too objectionable.
Do yourself a favor and go see the movie. I generally limit my movie going to those that "make me laugh or blow something up", I really enjoyed the movie. Uplifting film.

I think I shared your same thoughts on your Pleasantville thread, which is exactly the piece of trash you say it is. I watched a little bit of it and turned it off. I also remember Dr. Laura making fun of it - as if being slutty would allow one to change into color.
However, I just saw Seabiscuit today and it is a wonderful movie.

Seabiscuit was a great movie - it would have been a great FAMILY movie had they cleaned up the unnecessary language and one totally unnecessary scene in a Mexican brothel.
The little black and white historical vignettes annoyed me greatly. They would have been fine if it wasn't for the fact that they were socialist propaganda. One of them showed the "Relief" of all the poor people during the Depression, the last slide showed their savior, FDR. Blech... I even mentioned to my wife, "What is this? FDR worship?" Then they lovingly spoke of "public projects" and such socialist nonsense. So, now it makes sense. That crap was written by the socialist speechwriter of a socialist president.
