[history]
Jessica Lynch, the wounded Army private whose ordeal in Iraq was hyped into a media fiction of U.S. heroism, was set for an emotional homecoming on Tuesday. . . . Media critics say the TV cameras will not show the return of an injured soldier so much as a reality-TV drama co-produced by U.S. government propaganda and credulous reporters."

Maybe Katie Couric should go to work for Reuters.

I wonder how many reporters are flattered by Reuters or the AP asking to use their bylines, only to discover they were being used so that someone else could take potshots, slant the story in another direction or take political advantage over someone else?
After Jayson Blair and exposure of CNN's colluding with Iraq's regime and the multitude of complaints about the NY Times, perhaps more writers/reporters will continue exposoing these behind the scenes machinations.

I'm not a lawyer so I can't answer that.
Maybe since she gave permission to use her "byline" instead of her "story" she has no case.

I would like to make it abundantly clear that somebody at Reuters wrote the story, not me. WOW !!
Has there been any comments from Reuters about being outing for reporting false stories?

Three cheers for Deanna Wrenn. Rueters deserves unmitigated contempt. I fart in their general direction. I imagine they've done things like this for decades. It's just now that there is enough media competition to make them eat the tergivorate prose that they print on their fishwrap newspapers.

doesn't she have grounds for a lawsuit? I would think so, especially since they didn't remove her name after she requested them to do so.
