Baghdad - Members of Iraq's Governing Council have been given access to see the bodies of Saddam Hussein's two dead sons, Uday and Qusay, a senior coalition official said on Thursday. "They've been invited and they're expected to be there right now," the senior official said, asking not to be named.
"They've probably already seen the bodies," being held in a US base set up in the compound of Baghdad International Airport, he added.
The US-led coalition is battling with scepticism among ordinary Iraqis over the fate of Uday and Qusay, killed in an intense firefight on Tuesday with US forces in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul.
US officials have said they will show photographs of the bodies "soon" in an effort to overcome any doubts.

There is a strong possiblilty that releasing the pictures will bite GW in the backside. The Shites, Bathist's and Democrats will cry foul, fake, or retouched pictures. Liberal Europe will hide behind the Geneva Convention along with some Democrat's.

"Flowers and condolence cards may be sent to the Democratic National Committee, Washington, D.C."This would be in very poor taste.
Anyone have the street address? 8^)

Any predictions on how the Dems will react to this?

You know, the Russians are probably STILL making money by displaying Lenin's cadaver. I hear his ear was falling off, but that actually adds to the mystique.
Build 'em glass boxes, boys. Put 'em in the best standing palace to be the Saddamocaust Memorial Museum, and stand back. If you build it, they will come.

I agree. Glad these guys are gone, but I wonder if it's worth the trouble to show the pictures. I would display the bodies to any future governing council, officials, etc. and let them relay the information to the general populace. I see nothing good coming out of the photo release. I just see more opportunities for Al Jazeera, etc. displaying photos of our dead soldiers, possibly videos of capture, torture, etc. In their minds, they will have justification for doing so, no matter how much we complain about it....This just raises the bar once again...

Think that's why we're consulting with the Iraqi council. We know. The Iraqi people NEED TO KNOW. Remember our prisoners on National TV. Enough said!!

*L* My husband called from work the other night and I told him about us getting these two SOBs, he was surprised as the TV hadn't been on all day so no one on the sub had heard what happened. He said later he went around telling everyone what he had heard from me and no one believed him! When they were watching the news later that evening, someone else wanted to watch a different program but my husband wouldn't hear of it.

I wonder if ANYONE is giving ANY thought whatsoever to the Muslim custom of burial within 48 hours of death. They don't keep their dead around for a week of pissing and moaning like we do here in the states. The minute the corpse hits room temp, the shovelers get started.

I wish my son would phone home. I'd like to find out if having those two on his base serves as a moral booster.
