My mom needs your prayers tonight

Yesterday my mom and my family got some bad news... a brain MR identified the cause of her recent severe headaches and general weakness - two brain lesions which are suspicious for breast cancer metastases (after 12 years cancer-free). She's getting good care and pain management, most of the family is local and the rest is making their way home now. We did get some good news to go with the bad; a CT today came back clear for mets elsewhere, so the talk now is whether the brain lesions are small enough to respond to Gamma Knife treatment. We'll learn more tomorrow.

Thank you everyone for all your prayers and kind words. Mom is comfortable, alert and getting very good care at the hospital. She is on pain meds as needed, and steroids to reduce the swelling in her brain. She's not too ambulatory, some loss of left extremity function, but as the swelling is reduced she is regaining her strength on the left. The 2 lesions are grape-size and we are told that Gamma Knife will work well on them; but first she will get three weeks of "whole head" radiation to kill any single renegade cancer cells that might be lurking around her brain. Both types of radiation will cause brain swelling, but "whole head" less so than Gamma Knife, and that is why they want to wait to do the knife - because she already has significant brain swelling from the lesions. After the three weeks of steroids and "whole head," she will then move on to the Gamma Knife treatment. Word from the team of docs is encouraging. And the kindness and sincerity of all your prayers is even more so. Thank you all, and please don't stop now. :-)

I've been out of town for several days, and just saw this prayer request. Prayers are offered.

Beloved Heavenly Father,

We offer our prayers and our hearts to tgslTakoma's mother who has received difficult news about brain lesions being present.

Father, we call forth your healing intercession in this situation. Surround this precious mother and her family and friends with your light of comfort and healing. Grant them a miracle, as much as your Great Law and Plan for them will allow.

Father, we ask that you will assign a healing angel and a comfort angel to be with her 24/7. Let these angels reach deeply into that brain at a cellular level to renew the proper cellular processes. Let them reach into the glandular and hormonal system and any and all body systems which may be operational in the processes of this particular cancer. We remember with your help, that true healing is the grace of wholeness, so please, Father, heal any and all conditions which are causing or contributory to this cancer attacking tgslTakoma's mother.

Encourage her while she goes through testing and treatment. Give her and her family strength, courage, peace, and joy despite the challenges facing them.
