President Bush, flanked by Secretary of State Donald Rumsfeld, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Gen. Richard B. Myers, and U.S. Administrator in Iraq, Paul Bremer, spoke this morning in the White House Rose Garden regarding the killing of the monstrous sons of Saddam Hussein, Uday and Qusay yesterday, and the positive effect it would have on the Iraqi people, and citing the great progress that has been made by the Coalition Forces in Iraq.
Later in the morning he welcomed former President of the Czech Republic, Vaclav Havel, and Argentine President Nestor Kirchner in the Oval Office. He also found time to honor the Presidential Medal of Honor recipients in the East Room, including Vaclav Havel, Van Cliburn, John Wooden, Roberto Clemente, Dave Thomas and Charleston Heston.
There are lots of pictures today, so enjoy your ample Daily Dose of Dubya!!

Sympathies in the loss of your brother.
I lost my younger brother July 22, 1997. I don't cry anymore but still feel rotten most of the month of July. At least, I don't cry very often anymore.

he's already had the privilege of leading one young man to the Lord! Sounds like the first fruits of a wonderful crop.
I will pray for the Bible study.
Good for Eric. Good for you and hubby for raising such a fine young man.

For anyone of you young folks out there who have never seen "Ben-Hur", I urge you to rent it. I second that!

My fave is El Cid. Not only Charlton but Sophia Loren at her most gorgeous.
Charlton could also do Shakespeare. He was wonderful as the Player King in Kenneth Branagh's Hamlet.

Is there a size limit on packages sent to Iraq? I heard one soldier didn't get his package until he was rotated home because it was too big.
Can't see what Eric is going to do with ten tubes of SPF30 Chapstick, etc. if he doesn't get it till he's home.

Heston played Andy Jackson in a couple of terrific movies.
Larger than life roles were his specialty; but he did some other fun goodies, like Soylent Green (with Edward G. Robinson), Planet of the Apes, and one with a virus turning everyone into canabalistic zombies while he holed up in a fortress apartment and tried to find a cure...can't remember the title.

Did anyone else hear the loud crashes (sounded like gunshots) during the President's Speech yesterday? I wonder if they can be heard on the video on the WH page? will have to check. Scared the heck out of me, and the Pres raised his eyebrows too.

That's the nice thing about Eric's job, hoosier.
He's in a water unit, so he gets the best stuff around! It's just very boring.... :o)
