It's nice to know that you are on the job and know exactly what is going on downtown!! Yes the NYPD is the best of the best, more so than even some of the elite feds but I am uptown on 40th street with a radio on and the situation is not as cut and dry as you assume it to be. What is your basis for the remarks you make or is it just your getting your rocks off!! And that goes to all the other loud mouths who think this is just like in television melodramas. We, who have worked and lived here in NYC and the metro area do not take your remarks lightly. Live through the events of 9/11 and every day thereafter and maybe you will not be so brave from where you come from. You are lucky that NOBODY WILL EVER DO ANYTHING WHERE YOU WORK AND LIVE!! <> I know that every day when I go home on the LIRR, I wonder if some jack assed terrorist or wannabe will try and blow up one of the tunnels or bridges. We here in NYC have skins of armor and can take most stupid dumb remarks made by those not in the area. But, with knowledge and foresight to make little of what happens in a real time day, we don't take these things lightly. Stop the simpleton remarks and follow the story. When and if the professional NYPD gets their man it will be a great weight taken off our collective shoulders. Until then, I suggest you keep these simplistic remarks to yourself.

Thank you for your post.

Based on the quality of your rant, Id bet around 40th and 8th, on a grate outside the bus terminal.
I think I gave you a quarter the other day.

I live and work in NYC too...I hear what your saying. Its really easy for people to make flippant remarks about stuff like this when they are sitting somewhere in the midwest or down south..but stuff like this strikes those of us who are a FEW BLOCKS alot different..especially having gone through 9/11...
Thanks for the post.

As a non-New Yorker, I took Mr. McGee's comments to be highly complimentary of your city's finest. I certainly don't see a problem with them and I doubt seriously he's going to be crying U.N.C.L.E.

If I were you I would not assume anything about anyone who posts on this forum.
He may live in a place much worse than NY or perhaps has been in danger a few times.

I think you are over reacting to Travis McGee's comments regarding the New York City Police who are among the most professional well trained and well equiped police officers in the world. All he was doing was praising their professionalism and stating that they would properly ahndle this situation if they had tiime to get there before the perp fled.

Well, sorry for your lot in life, but out here in the sticks, if some asshole goes postal he'd better have on kevlar because we can and WILL return fire. And I don't have to drive home and unlock the three lock gun safe to get to it.

I'd also like to say that it's annoying as hell having to wade through the garbage when you're trying to stay current with the story. Thanks for posting.

I know that every day when I go home on the LIRR, I wonder if some jack assed terrorist or wannabe will try and blow up one of the tunnels or bridges. If I were you I would also be worried about the next Colin ferguson wannabe and make sure I was able to defend myself (that is armed.)

Geez, Napoleon, he was complimenting the NYPD. Way to overreact.
Sounds like your "skin of armor" has worn pretty thin.

I appreciate your concern for facts versus speculation, but read some of Travis' threads. If he comments on something, it's a safe assumption he has researched it thoroughly (even if he is not right there at the time).

I totally sympathize with you. Since my daughter escaped the North Tower, I worry about her working in Manhattan. I also think about what happened when I go down the elipse and through the Lincoln Tunnel. I haven't had to go over one of the bridges but that would be a concern. I know the rest of the country felt badly about what happened in NYC, but I don't think they know the DEPTH of grief and fear that was experienced by those who live in and around the City.
