I totally sympathize with you. Since my daughter escaped the North Tower, I worry about her working in Manhattan. I also think about what happened when I go down the elipse and through the Lincoln Tunnel. I haven't had to go over one of the bridges but that would be a concern. I know the rest of the country felt badly about what happened in NYC, but I don't think they know the DEPTH of grief and fear that was experienced by those who live in and around the City.

Anyone who leads in any capacity will have people who do not like them. Most leaders have strong personalities.
It sounds like Mr. Davis did something constructive with his life. He became a police officer instead of opposing the police, and from what I hear, attempted to steer kids in the right direction.
Don't know much about him besides that, but my prayers go out to his family. Very sad.

"Even though it took place in the visitor's gallery, it is City Hall." So, if you get shot in the visitor's gallery, it's different than being shot on the floor? Mayor, another dumb statement. Grief counselors being called in for the children - what children?

Somewhere, while doing some googling on this, I found that he was opposed to Bloomberg's property tax hike.

And...toothbrushes brush teeth, knives cut things, fire burns things, whips whip things.
I don't know why people use toothbrushes, knives, fire and whips, they clean, cut, burn and whip.

I was just referring to an earlier article I posted that quoted one of his opponents as saying he went over the line when he (Davis) came in waving a gun at this guy's campaign staff. Back up a little (I think it was in the 700s) and look for the quote by Errol Louis.

He voted against it, along with the Republicans.

Earlier in the thread, it was mentioned that there were a number of children present for some sort of ceremony.

Wouldn't it be great to be one of the 51 people on that council, living like little tin gods with no need to carry?
Or the Mayor. Gee, a bazillion dollars AND round-the-clock police protection for him and his townhouse.
To: B Knotts
I'll bet those children were better armed than the security detail at City Hall.

This clearly can not be a hate crime since both victim and perp are black. I havent heard that yet on TV.

A cop shot the shooter. Davis didn't have time to pull his weapon. I think Clinton's gonna run for Mayor now. He'd win. I can't stand him.

Did you read his comments last night. I was shocked. Clinton was actually making sense. I think it was a body double.

He voted against it, along with the Republicans.Bringing the votes against to at least...four.
They rammed that tax increase through at six o'clock in the morning, I remember, with no notice to the public. Or maybe even to the press.

Wasn't trying to down you, just remarking that when you are in leadership you will have enemies, and unfortunately some of them are unstable.

Maybe they should give Clinton his own show. He is the most boring speaker I have ever heard. Maybe people would get enough of him. I haven't been able to abide his speaking since he came on the scene at the Democratic convention where he gave that long nomination speech. They had to pull him off the stage with a hook.
