Bringing the votes against to at least...four.

They rammed that tax increase through at six o'clock in the morning, I remember, with no notice to the public. Or maybe even to the press.

My apologies for this considerably late reply. Not only did Davis vote against the party line on this vote, with the republicans as you stated, but he took heat for it. Gifford Miller "punished" the four dems who did not vote along party lines on this issue by removing them from committee appointments. Davis was a tough cookie though...he sued Miller. I don't know if the case ever got anywhere or not. If nothing else, it seems Davis was his own man not to be manipulated by the party machine.
