Absolutely. I'd have given ten to one to anybody who wanted to bet otherwise.

Apparently Davis was struck twice in the chest. A person using a pistol would have to be a pretty good shot, I would thinkNot hard at all to do, FRiend.
At my unit's last weapons qual, I was putting rounds in the heart ring with a 9mm at 25 meters - that's roughly 75 feet. I'm confident that the ranges involved here aren't near that great.
If this was a hit, by someone shaking hands with the target, we're talking point-blank.

Sorry, but the vast majority of the violent crimes in New York City happen in dark alleys, stairwells, deserted subway platforms, etc., where the defensive shooting into a crowd phenomenon couldn't happen. This City Hall case is VERY unusual.

Here's what I love aout FR: The news dudes are just now reporting that the perp came into city hall with the victim. This was posted

wcbs-tv reports that councilman james davis was shot; another councilman says shooter came into building with davis and introduced man as former rival.

Naw! This is just one Democrat killing another!

Adequate marksmanship skills to hit a guy at that range are not cultivated by shooting a qualifier once per year.Absolutely, which is one of the reasons why NYC has such strict gun control laws I suspect. There are not a lot of places where the average law abiding working class person can go to practice, and the city is too darn busy and disorganized to enforce a certification/recertification program.

Thanks for the quote by Mayor B. It's still stupid because he went too far by dragging democracy into it.
It was an attack on one guy that was deliberate and I believe the other victim was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I'm wondering if Davis has goods on anybody or anything that would cause nervousness higher up the food chain.

DU is the place for you!
No thank you. Please don't misunderstand: Although I know that every gun owning Freeper could hit and disable a moving target thirty yards away with one shot every time, NYC is something like 99% democrap/Rino. The reality of the situation is that not every law abiding citizen in NYC is capable of properly using a gun under fire, although most of them probably think they can. As a result, for every bad guy that goes down, there may be one or two good guys that go down with him. I bet when all is said and done, one or more of today's victims was maimed not by the bad guy, but by trained security guys who fired back.

Those that can't shouldn't. But those of us that can and will, should not be restricted because of what may happen.
Because we do know what DOES happen. Wackos targeting unarmed people.

Curtis said it was a former opponent, and the race was very heated.
I dont know if he was referring to the District 35 race or not.

How the hell do you get out of a building that is crawling with cops and sits on a grounds that has only 2 exits thru manned gates??? You can, if you're dressed as a security guard (blue suit), and make like you're headed outside for crowd control.
Geez, why didn't I think of this before? It's perfect - sign up as a bodyguard for the Councilman! Straight out of Tom Clancy's Executive Orders, remember? One of the security detail is the gunner!

If the perp was Councilman Davis's guest, it must have been possible to identify him by now. Where's the BOLO?
To: Dog
That was at close range and yet the perp managed to escape. That is so curious. No average Americans to tackle the perp like on September 11th, "Let's roll."

I'll bet the guy 'offs' himself before they have a chance to grab him by the throat and shackle him. Just my prediction.

Pretty good shooting. I've never shot a 9mm but I doubt I could be accurate from 75 feet.
